  3. Nottinghamshire 'has a bit of everything'published at 22:47 British Summer Time 4 July

    Hugh Casswell
    Political reporter, BBC Radio Nottingham

Nottinghamshire is a county characterised by its contrasts – and it has a bit of everything.

A core city that stayed a Labour stronghold, even in 2019.

Suburban marginals like Gedling and Broxtowe, which have at times acted as political bellwethers.

Leafy, affluent areas like Rushcliffe, which have been Tory for decades.

And, yes, the so-called red wall seats like Bassetlaw and Mansfield that Labour lost in such big numbers in recent years.

Then there's Ashfield... the one place that no-one seems able to predict with any confidence.
