US R&B singer SZA has just arrived on the main stage. She was due on stage at 21:30 but made her way out about quarter of an hour later.

SZA is topping the bill tonight on the final evening of Glastonbury Festival 2024.

  2. Still no sign of SZApublished at 21:46 British Summer Time 30 June

    Mark Savage
    reporting from Glastonbury

The lights have dimmed and the DJ has stopped, but still no sign of SZA.

    She’s 15 minutes late now.

As Lana Del Rey can attest, Glastonbury doesn’t allow artists to break curfews.

She might have to curtail her set.

  3. SZA is a few minutes late to the stagepublished at 21:39 British Summer Time 30 June

Perhaps waiting for a few more fans to turn up.

Don’t get me wrong, there are thousands of people at the Pyramid Stage - but this is the smallest audience I’ve ever seen for a Glastonbury headliner.

    That’s not a huge surprise.

Despite all her acclaim and hundreds of millions of streams, SZA is a bit of an unknown quantity in the UK.

Added to which, there’s a plethora of other acts vying for attention.

The National on The Other Stage, London Grammar at The Park, James Blake in the Woodsies Tent.

Still, the people who’ve turned up for SZA are in for a treat, judging by the reviews for the rest of her current world tour.

    1) Her stage name was inspired by RZA from Wu-Tang Clan

If you’re wondering how to pronounce SZA, it's "sizza" - a little like sizzle, or the singular of scissors.

Born Solána Imani Rowe, the singer took inspiration from RZA in Wu-Tang Clan for her stage name.

    2) Her career could’ve been very different

Her day job could’ve been oceans apart though, as she studied marine biology at university.

    3) She won't limit herself musically

SZA has a broad range of musical influences – and she's cited names such as Ella Fitzagerald, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Björk as inspirations.

And, throughout her career, she's said she doesn't want to be limited to just R&B.

    4) She beat Taylor Swift to a Brit award

Given her cultural ubiquity, many people expected Taylor Swift to pick up the international artist award at this year's Brit awards.

In the end, it was SZA took the trophy - trouncing Swift alongside fellow pop stars Olivia Rodrigo and Miley Cyrus.

    5) She’s known for bringing out special guests

When it comes to collaborators, SZA has quite the list to choose from, with everyone from Doja Cat to former Glastonbury headliner Kendrick Lamar nestled in her discography

The countdown is on for the award-winning singer to take to the stage at 21:30 BST.

  6. London Grammar about to headline the Park Stagepublished at 21:02 British Summer Time 30 June

London Grammar are one of Glastonbury's Sunday night headliners, bringing their cinematic, moody electro-pop music to the festival's beloved Park Stage at 21:15 BST.

The set comes months before the release of their fourth album, The Greatest Love, in September, with fans looking forward to the prospect of hearing their first new material since 2021.

Formed in the dorm rooms of Nottingham University by singer Hannah Reid and guitarist Dan Rothman, they've gone on to sell more than three million records, including their double-platinum debut album If You Wait.

They've topped the bill at Glastonbury before, headlining the smaller Woodsies tent in 2014, but this will be their first time playing outdoors.

But Reid, who gave birth to her first son six months ago, has wisely avoided stepping foot on Worthy Farm so far.

"I've been in a bubble in my hotel room," she says. "All that pollen plays havoc with your throat."

What a special set that was from Two Door Cinema Club on the Other Stage.

There was a real connection between the crowd and the band - who you could see were blown away by the huge numbers of people who had gathered to see their set.

It leant heavily on the Northern Irish group’s earlier material, which made the whole experience one massive sing-a-long.

Highlights included a frenetic rendition of Undercover Martyn and the anthemic What You Know.

In a weekend that has leaned heavily on nostalgia, it was a pleasure to be transported back to the early 2010s for just shy of an hour.

"Glastonbury it has been a true privilege," frontman Alex Trimble said to round off a flawless selection of indie bangers.

Melissa said it feels like Glastonbury is really expanding the range of music it offers.

She's danced on stage alongside Barry Gibb, Rick Astley and now Shania Twain.

Lauren, AKA La La, created the flashmob dance for Twain's track 'That Don't Impress Me Much', which was posted online.

Sophie told Inside Glastonbury on BBC Sounds: "This actually means so much" to have performed with Shania Twain.

She says it means more to her after she's overcome health problems with a hip injury.

    Shania Twain set

Before Janelle Monae rocked the Pyramid Stage, audiences at Glasto were left stunned by Shania Twain's Legends slot.

"Hats off to you Glastonbury," says Shania Twain, surveying a sea of people - many of whom are, ironically, wearing cowboy hats.

"I feel and I see your support. Thank you so much for having me."

Few artists have ever embraced Glastonbury's so-called Legends Slot so fully.

The star has been talking up her appearance for months.

Not only did she share her ambition to arrive at the festival on horseback, but she convinced Great Western Railways to rebrand some of their rolling stock as "Shania Trains".
