    If you're just joining us, there's been a shooting at a school in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

    Here’s what we know so far:

    US Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem says her department is working with other agencies and more information will be shared later

    We’re getting more reaction to the shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis.

    US Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem says the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is monitoring the "horrific shooting" and is in contact with other agencies.

    She says more information will be shared as soon as it’s available.

    "I am praying for the victims of this heinous attack and their families," Noem adds.

    US Senator for Minnesota, Amy Klobuchar, says she is "heartbroken by the horrific violence" at the school this morning.

    "My prayers are with the students, teachers, and families, and I am grateful for the first responders who are on the scene," she says.

    As many as 20 people have been injured in the shooting, according to two federal law enforcement sources speaking to CBS News.

    Both sources say the shooting started about an hour ago.

    They describe the gunman as a man dressed in all black and carrying a rifle.

    No other weapon has been mentioned at this stage - but the search is still under way.

    The sources tell CBS News they do not want to speculate on fatalities.

    We've just had an update from CBS News, our US partner. They report seeing unharmed children leaving the church.

    But they also say one child appeared to have a bandage on their arm - it's not clear if this is an injury from the shooting.

    We've just had an update from the official City of Minneapolis account on X.

    "There is an active police situation at Annunciation Church, 509 W. 54th St," it says.

    "There is no active threat to the community at this time. The gunman is contained," the post continues.

    Locals are being warned to "stay away from the area to allow emergency personnel to help victims".

    The area affected is W 54th Street between Lyndale and Nicollet Avenue.

    Local police tell the BBC there is no longer an active gunman in the area.

    However, it is still an active crime scene, and police and emergency teams are responding.

    Minneapolis mayor Jacob Frey says he is "monitoring reports of horrific violence in South Minneapolis".

    He writes on X that he's in touch with the city's police chief and that the emergency response team has been activated.

    "We will share more information as soon as we can. Please give our officers the space they need to respond to the situation."

    Minnesota Governor Tim Walz says he's been briefed on the shooting, and that it happened at Annunciation Catholic School.

    "The BCA and State Patrol are on scene. I’m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence," he says in a post on X.

    Local authorities have confirmed that there was a shooting in the Tangletown neighborhood this morning.

    Multiple people are injured, and police told the BBC that they are now focused coordinating a medical response.

    A shooting has been reported at a Catholic school in Minneapolis, a major city in the US state of Minnesota.

    Several ambulances are at 53rd Avenue and Bryant Avenue South, the BBC's US partner CBS News reports.

    The FBI, state patrol and Minneapolis police are reportedly at the scene.
