    Over in Warrington, Phil is already kitted out in his yellow Pudsey t-shirt and has been spotted pacing around the Halliwell Jones stadium as he prepares to set off in about 10 minutes time.

    Paul, who is set to walk 6.25 miles today with one of his legs tied to a revolving cast of volunteers, spoke to BBC Radio Merseyside earlier.

    He said: "We've got some celebrity guests coming down to do the walk with me, which I'm very excited about

    "But I've also been told that the sponsors of St Helens, Cottoms Pies are coming down.

    "That makes it all worthwhile, if I get a free pie."

  4. Where will Paul and Phil be today?published at 11:38 GMT 4 November

    The lads will be strutting around some of the region's top rugby and football grounds, and are due to set off from about 12:00.

    Volunteers will be joining them in Warrington and St Helens for stints of half an hour through the day until we pause the challenge to pick it back up tomorrow.

    Weather conditions look good, with a gentle breeze and highs of 16C.

    On Wednesday, Paul and Phil will be taking their challenge into Liverpool, with Phil of course headed to Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium, while Paul will be with his beloved Reds at Anfield.

    Total Sport Merseyside presenters Phil Munns and Paul Salt are limbering up as we speak as they prepare to walk three-legged over 25 miles across the next two days.

    They will be doing laps of the Halliwell Jones Stadium in Warrington and the BrewDog Stadium in St Helens tethered to a rotating cast of volunteers that includes former rugby players, charities, a mascot and even a male voice choir!

    Phil and Paul are divvying up their efforts over the two days to 6.25 miles over each to reach their target of 25 miles (40.23 km).

    They are taking part in a wider Thousand Mile Challenge, which involves BBC local radio stations across the UK, who are hoping to walk a combined total of 1,000 miles (1,610km) to raise money for Children in Need 2025.
