The investigation has now been handed over to the Metropolitan Police, and police believe there is a second crime scene in Shepherd's Bush.
Detectives investigating the case say they believe the suitcases contained the remains of two adult men.
Police say the suspect is believed to have travelled from London to Bristol, before taking a taxi to the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
There is a press conference about to start at the Clifton Suspension Bridge.
You can watch it live at the top of this page.

Graziella Licata has been selling ice cream near the bridge every day for a number of years.
She said the situation is "really odd", and lots of people were talking about it yesterday.
There are fewer conversations today, whilst everybody waits for more news from police.
“We’re all just praying and hoping that they find the person that’s involved in this and the families can get some closure. It’s so sad," Ms Licata said.

As I’ve gone through Bristol today, many of the people I’ve spoken to have expressed a sense of unease at what’s happened.
It generally feels quiet, with people going about things as normal, such as Dan Summers, who was on a run when he stopped to speak to me.
He lives a few miles away and says it feels “concerning”.
“I’ve got a young family and you do worry about these things,” Dan, 41, tells Newsbeat.
He says it “seems like these things are happening more”, but adds that he does trust the authorities to keep the public safe.

Joey Hemming works at Cinos cafe in Clifton.
“It’s quite scary news and it’s obviously a terrible thing that’s happened,” he said.
“I do think it’s an anomaly though - things like that don’t really happen around the UK, let alone in one place like Clifton."

There's a lot of journalists and police community vans here. Everybody is waiting for something to happen.
Will the police say any more later today about the case?
People are also coming up to us and asking why someone would bring a body in a suitcase, in a taxi, to one of the most famous locations in Bristol - which is covered in CCTV.
We still don't know where the man the police are looking for is, we still don't know who the victim is.
I'm standing in the same place as yesterday, the only difference is the bridge is open.
We've heard there might be a press conference.
Now we're just waiting.
Police are continuing their efforts to reassure residents of Clifton with high-profile patrols.
Two officers on horseback are patrolling close to the suspension bridge.

Police found two suitcases and when they opened them up, they very sadly saw the remains of body parts.
Yesterday we all heard all about their hunt, they have still not found this man.
Earlier today I spoke to people in Clifton who feel incredibly anxious this is happening so close to home.

I'm at the spot where the pictures of the man police are looking for were taken. It's at the end of Burwalls Road by the junction with Rownham Hill.
It is the last known sighting of him.
Police say they don’t know where he went afterwards.
This is a quiet, winding residential road near Leigh Woods.
A police car is driving up and down here regularly but there is no other police presence on this road. There are more police nearby.
Located a stone's throw from Clifton Suspension Bridge and on the edge of the city of Bristol, Leigh Woods is a large area of woodland operated by National Trust and Forestry England.
The woodland is next to the area where the man fled in connection to two suitcases found by police that contained human remains.
Avon and Somerset Police said the search for the man is still under way. On Thursday officers were searching an undergrowth by the woods.
Here's the latest on this developing story.

Residents living in Burwalls Road, on the Leigh Woods side of the suspension bridge, said they didn't hear anything on Wednesday when the large-scale search was launched.
A woman's daughter said she was woken up by a helicopter.
Here's how things unfolded over the past 48 hours in Bristol.
Late Wednesday: Police found a suitcase on Clifton Suspension Bridge after a report was made at 23:57 BST, followed by a second suitcase nearby a short time later. Both suitcases contained human remains, and the man left the area by the time officers arrived.
Early hours of Thursday: Police deployed a “large-scale search” for the man over several hours. Initial enquiries made by the police revealed the man was taken to the bridge by taxi. The taxi has been seized and the driver is helping officers.
Thursday: Clifton Suspension Bridge was closed in both directions to traffic and pedestrians. At around 13:50 BST the police said their “immediate priority” was to find the man, identify the deceased and inform their next of kin in a statement. At 16:40 BST images of the man were released in a press conference.
Friday: Clifton Suspension Bridge reopened in both directions. Avon and Somerset Police confirmed officers are still looking for the man.
Our colleagues at BBC Radio Bristol have been speaking to eyewitness Reece Wright about what he saw.
He said he saw a cyclist chasing the man police are looking for down a hill near the bridge.

Kika Hedgecock works at Belle De Jour Florist in Clifton.
Her husband, who works as a delivery driver, was delayed when coming home from Portishead because of the closures that were in place yesterday.
Ms Hedgecock said she has always felt safe in Clifton, but the incident has left her "shaken".
"I still have goosebumps. I can’t imagine somebody who could do that," she said.
“There’s no human compass in this person who has committed this crime," she added.

Ros heard the news when she received an email from the suspension bridge team to say the area was closed yesterday.
"I felt really, really upset. It's the most terrible thing," she said.
Despite the incident, she said she still feels "completely safe" in Clifton.
Avon and Somerset Police officers are at the scene for "visible reassurance", although they said there is no threat to the public.

The community of Clifton in Bristol is clearly rocked by what’s happened.
The people that I’ve spoken to have never seen anything like this before, with some likening it to a Netflix programme.
People feel generally safe here but there is a sense of unease this morning and shops and cafes are “unusually quiet” for a Friday.
The Clifton Suspension Bridge is Bristol’s most iconic landmark, but one woman told me she’ll be “avoiding it at night” from now on.
Avon and Somerset Police’s Acting Bristol Commander, Vicks Hayward-Melen, told BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that police still want to speak to the man they released an image of yesterday.
A forensic post-mortem examination to identify the remains began yesterday, and is continuing today.
“The process is complex and lengthy, working with the forensic pathologist,” she said.
She also confirmed that the suspect was taken to the bridge in a taxi, which has been seized by police.
The driver is helping officers with their investigation.
