    "It's not something that you hear about - it's more like a movie," said Sheetal, who works locally.

    “The suspension bridge is going to be different during the night," she said.

    "I feel a bit scared. I think no matter what area you live in, you always have to be aware of your surroundings."

    She added that the area is quieter than usual.

    On Wednesday at around midnight police deployed a "large-scale search" over several hours involving officers on foot, a helicopter and HM Coastguard.

    Avon and Somerset Police said on Wednesday officers are now reviewing CCTV and working on tracking the man’s movements after he left the bridge in the direction of Leigh Woods.

    Additional high-visibility patrols are being carried out in the area by police and if anyone has any concerns they are being encouraged to speak to an officer.

    One of the officers told the BBC they are there for "visible reassurance".

    Barry Smith, who lives nearby, said it was a "shock" to hear about what happened on Wednesday night.

    "You don't normally expect that around here," he told me.

    "I think people were shocked and surprised that it happened so close to home."

    On Thursday evening, officers were conducting searches along the bridge and in the nearby Leigh Woods area.

    A forensic post-mortem examination was being carried out yesterday, to identify the remains found in the suitcases. Police will then contact the victim's next of kin.

    The taxi which took the man to the bridge has been seized, and the driver is helping officers with their investigation.

    CCTV footage is being reviewed by officers to track the wanted man's movements. He left the bridge and travelled towards Leigh Woods, police said.

    Joe Eastlake lives near the bridge and goes on a run in the area every day.

    When he went out yesterday, he realised he couldn't go his usual route due to the "serious incident" forcing the closure of the bridge.

    "It's a shock," he said.

    "The fact that this man that they've identified is still at large. I would've thought somebody could identify him quite easily."

    Police have urged people not to approach the man they are looking to speak to. Any sightings should be immediately reported by calling 999.

    Clifton is eerily quiet this morning. There’s no sign of emergency services here.

    Police tape and cordons have been removed on the roads and surrounding footpaths.

    Traffic and pedestrians are allowed back on the bridge again and the footpaths have also been reopened.

    Avon and Somerset Police described the man they want to speak to in connection with the incident as black with a beard and a gold earring.

    Officers said he was wearing a black Adidas baseball cap, black jeans, a black jacket, black trainers with thick white soles and had a black backpack.

    They have urged people to not approach the man. But, they do not think he is a danger to the community. Sightings should be immediately reported by calling 999.

    Clifton Suspension Bridge after the road closures had been lifted

    Avon and Somerset Police officers are continuing their search for a man in connection to two suitcases that contained human remains.

    One suitcase was found at around midnight on Clifton Suspension Bridge on Wednesday, followed by another nearby a short time later.

    Cordons were put in place on both sides of the bridge as well as surrounding footpaths.
