Their overall majority might be confirmed but the wins continue to arrive for Reform.
They have now claimed victory in Melbourne and Woodville as well as completing a clean sweep in Ilkeston, which will have three Reform councillors representing it at County Hall.

The seat here that everybody has been anticipating the most was a minute ago about to be declared - the fate of the Conservatives leader in Derbyshire and current council leader, Barry Lewis.
It sounds like he hasn’t managed to hold on - and may even have been beaten into third behind Reform and the Greens.

One particular campaign that received a lot of attention locally was that of the former Labour MP for High Peak, Ruth George.
She was blocked from standing for the Labour Party in these elections amid allegations of antisemitism, which she denies.
I’m told she has “walked it” where she stood in Whaley Bridge as an Independent.

Her former colleagues in the Labour Party have held on in areas where they should be holding on in High Peak, but they’ve also suffered a couple of losses to Reform.
The Conservatives are fairly happy with their results there given their fate elsewhere, having held onto the three main seats they were defending.
