    One particular campaign that received a lot of attention locally was that of the former Labour MP for High Peak, Ruth George.

    She was blocked from standing for the Labour Party in these elections amid allegations of antisemitism, which she denies.

    I’m told she has “walked it” where she stood in Whaley Bridge as an Independent.

    Her former colleagues in the Labour Party have held on in areas where they should be holding on in High Peak, but they’ve also suffered a couple of losses to Reform.

    The Conservatives are fairly happy with their results there given their fate elsewhere, having held onto the three main seats they were defending.
