Great to hear Nick Robinson’s voice again. Can I just ask him why is it the manifestos are published so late? Surely the parties should have been able to set their stalls out much earlier (the election date was in their calendar years ago). This time more than ever I get the impression parties are drip-feeding policy statements. Does this sort of politics lack confidence? Has it always been like this?

The hope is to "reassure voters" who may be concerned that the party can be trusted on the economy, Norman Smith adds.
