    Police are investigating cases of possible fraudulent voting at a number of Scottish election counts.

    In Glasgow, officers said they were looking into one case of "personation".

    A similar allegation involving a vote cast at a polling station in the Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East constituency was also being probed.

    Claims of personation in two Edinburgh constituencies - South and South West - have also been reported.

    Scottish business leaders have called for the issue of Britain's membership of the European Union to be settled "quickly and decisively" in the wake of the general election result.

    The Scottish Chambers of Commerce said the EU was worth £12.9bn to Scotland's exporters.

    Chief executive Liz Cameron warned that the UK economy remained vulnerable to external shocks.

    She was speaking as the Conservatives sealed election victory.

    In another dramatic change to the political landscape, the number of women in Parliament has risen by about a third.

    About 30% of MPs are women - up from 23% before the election. This represents the largest increase since 1997.

    A Glasgow man who bet £30,000 on the Conservatives winning a majority in the general election looks set to pocket £210,000.

    The pensioner made the bet at a city branch of Ladbrokes 10 days before the vote, at odds of seven to one.

    Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said the "well-groomed gentleman" was poised to be "the biggest winner of the general election".
