  5. EU single market offers 'huge economic prize for Scotland'published at 11:55 British Summer Time 30 May 2017

    Nicola Sturgeon

Nicola Sturgeon says the EU single market offers "a huge economic prize for Scotland" but Brexit puts that at risk.

Scotland must choose "between following the UK down the Brexit path or becoming an independent country".

The decision "must be made by us, not for us" she says, to applause from supporters.

"That will be a choice for the end of the Brexit process."

  6. SNP backs 'targeted' VAT cutspublished at 11:50 British Summer Time 30 May 2017

The SNP does not support "further reductions to the headline rate of corporation tax", says Nicola Sturgeon - but the party does back "targeted reductions" in National Insurance to encourage employers to take on staff.

  7. Remarkable lack of focus on independencepublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 30 May 2017

    Norman Smith
    Assistant political editor

The most extraordinary thing about this manifesto was the playing down of the independence issue.

Pledge number 10 of 10 is strengthening Scotland's independence mandate.

Similarly, in the speech, Nicola Sturgeon's focus was remorselessly on opposing Tory austerity.

That's remarkable because independence is the lifeblood of the SNP, but clearly they've made the calculation that it's better to focus on domestic matters.

  8. The political maths is simple - SDLPpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 30 May 2017

    Colum EastwoodImage source, PA

SDLP leader Colum Eastwood said his party would stand up "against borders, division and cruel crippling cuts".

The manifesto launch is taking place in the constituency of South Belfast, which is one of three seats which the SDLP currently hold.

He accused his rival parties, the DUP and Sinn Fein, of "handing our welfare powers to the Tories" and argued that the "political maths of this election is simple".

"A DUP seat will only add to Tory numbers. A Sinn Fein seat won't count at all," Mr Eastwood said.

DUP MPs tend to vote with the Conservatives in the Commons while Sinn Fein MPs don't take their seats at Westminster.

  10. Sturgeon pledges to 'call' for more UK-wide NHS spendingpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 30 May 2017

The SNP leader says her party would "call on the UK government to increase health spending per head of population in England to the current Scottish level, which is 7% higher".

Under the Barnett formula for distributing public spending across the UK, that would also deliver "£1bn over and above our current commitment" for the NHS in Scotland, she adds.

  13. Sturgeon accuses Tories of 'assault on pensioners'published at 11:39 British Summer Time 30 May 2017

The Conservatives want "to set young against old", says Nicola Sturgeon.

She describes the row over the so-called dementia tax as "chaos" and says it makes her proud that Scotland has "free personal care".

"The SNP will always protect free personal and nursing care for our elderly," she says.

She claims Conservative policies such as means-testing the winter fuel allowance and ending the triple lock on state pensions amount to an "assault on pensioners".

The SNP will support the triple lock, Ms Sturgeon says. This would mean the state pension continues to rise by the higher of earnings, prices or 2.5%.

  15. SNP backs 'living wage' of over £10 per hourpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 30 May 2017

SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon says her party wants to increase the minimum wage to "a real living wage" of "slightly more than £10 per hour" by the end of the next Parliament.

The party will "not assume a 1% pay cap" for public sector workers but will work with pay review bodies to "strike the right balance between affordability and the cost of living, she says.

"The Tories have sought to undermine faith in the welfare state itself," Ms Sturgeon argues. "They have set out very deliberately to stigmatise those on benefits."

She says it is "surprising" that Labour "is pledging to reverse less than a quarter" of benefit cuts - but SNP MPs will oppose further cuts.

  16. Where is the environment? ask the Greenspublished at 11:32 British Summer Time 30 May 2017

    Caroline LucasImage source, PA

Labour and the Conservatives have created an "almost environment-free" general election, say the Green Party.

Co-leader Caroline Lucas is visiting Labour's London headquarters and Downing Street with a giant green question mark asking: "Where is the environment?"

She has also sent letters to Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and Prime Minister Theresa May expressing "alarm" at the lack of discussion and debate about the environment during the seven-week campaign.

  18. Northern Ireland 'should be treated distinctively'published at 11:29 British Summer Time 30 May 2017

The SDLP is also launching its manifesto right now in Belfast.

The document says Northern Ireland "should be treated distinctively in any future UK-EU agreement". It argues that the country was made distinct by the Good Friday Agreement - and that should continue.

Every citizen should have the right to become an EU citizen after Brexit, for example, it argues.

  20. Sturgeon backs UK-wide top rate tax risepublished at 11:27 British Summer Time 30 May 2017

Nicola Sturgeon says freezing the basic rate of income tax is "the right approach at a time when rising inflation is making it harder for many families to make ends meet".

But she adds that the SNP opposes cutting tax for the wealthiest when public services need investment.

She also says the SNP backs an increase in income tax for those earning over £150,000 a year from 45% to 50% "across the UK".
