  2. Security dominates the agenda, but what else is being discussed?published at 14:57 British Summer Time 6 June 2017

Following the London terrorist attack, security has been high on the parties' campaign agenda, but here are a few other policies and lines they have been putting out:

    • Theresa May says the "small print" in Labour's manifesto reveals plans to scrap the marriage tax allowance. This, she says, amounts to a breaking of Jeremy Corbyn's promise not to raise taxes for anyone other than the highest earners
    • The Conservatives have also announced plans for a new Board of Trade, with a network of nine trade commissioners across the world to boost trade after Brexit
    • Labour has claimed that Tory plans to means-test the winter fuel allowance for pensioners could lead to almost 4,000 more deaths this winter
    • Former Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg has warned that leaving the EU without a trade deal would be "disastrous" and an act of "self-harm"

The Liberal Democrat have launched a "digital poster" on social networks, suggesting some new footwear for Theresa May.

The aim is "to highlight the transition of Theresa May from allegedly 'strong and stable' to decidedly ‘weak and wobbly’ as she has flip flopped on several major issues", the party says.

Former leader Lord Ashdown called Mrs May "one of the least consistent and weakest of modern day prime ministers", adding:

    Quote Message

She has flip flopped on Europe, having campaigned to remain and now pushing for an extreme Brexit, as she has on raising National Insurance for the self-employed and most recently on whether to have a cap in her disastrous manifesto commitment on the dementia tax."

  7. May and Corbyn will both get what they want - Picklespublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 6 June 2017

    The World at One
    BBC Radio 4

Former MPs Alan Johnson and Sir Eric Pickles gave their thoughts on the campaign to the World at One a little earlier.

Former Labour minister Mr Johnson said the prime minister could never live up to the “Mother Theresa” image of her created at the start, but she has "made mistake after mistake".

Of Jeremy Corbyn, the former home secretary said "things couldn't get any worse" for him at the start "but he's undoubtedly shown a level of competence that would have surprised many people, including me".

Former Conservative cabinet minister Sir Eric thinks that on Friday both Mrs May and Mr Corbyn will get what they want.

“She will be prime minister and he will be leader of the opposition," he said.

  8. Tories accuse Labour of breaking tax promisepublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 6 June 2017

Theresa May has claimed her party has spotted something in the "small print" of the Labour manifesto - a promise to take away the marriage tax allowance.

"Jeremy Corbyn claimed that his manifesto showed that Labour would not put taxes up on ordinary families," she said.

"The marriage allowance does enable families to save. I think the figure is £230 a year. That would be a tax increase if that marriage allowance goes. Jeremy Corbyn has broken his promise on tax."

She tells supporters and the media in Staffordshire that it is "very important that we call out extremism in this country".

She says the Conservatives would create a commission for countering extremism, claiming the UK would be the first country to do so.

Mrs May is also asked if she is nervous as polling day approaches.

The PM says the Conservatives will be campaigning "for what we believe is the right result", adding:

    Quote Message
