    The Conservative candidate beat Liberal Democrat Pippa Heylings by 11,490 votes, 4,668 votes less than the majority at the 2017 election.

    James Bull of the Labour Party came third and independent candidate Edmund Fordham came fourth.

    Voter turnout was up by 1 percentage points since the last general election.

    More than 64,000 people, roughly three-quarters of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

    One of the four candidates, Edmund Fordham (independent) lost his £500 deposit after failing to win 5% of the vote.

    The Conservative Party took six out of a seven possible seats.

    The biggest change in the county was the Conservatives gaining Peterborough, which only elected Labour's Lisa Forbes as MP in June.

    Remain-voting Cambridge chose to re-elect Labour's Daniel Zeichener but his majority was reduced by about 3,000 votes.

    Bridget Smith of the Liberal Democrats came third and the Green Party's Nicola Day came fourth.

    Voter turnout was down by 0.6 percentage points since the last general election.

    Nearly 65,000 people, 68% of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

    Anthony Browne has been elected MP for Cambridgeshire South, meaning that the Conservative Party holds the seat with a significantly decreased majority.

    The new MP beat Liberal Democrat Ian Sollom by 2,904 votes. This was less than a quarter Heidi Allen’s 15,952 vote majority in the 2017 general election.

    Dan Greef of the Labour Party came third.

    Voter turnout was up by 0.5 percentage points since the last general election.

    Nearly 67,000 people, roughly three-quarters of those eligible to vote, went to polling stations across the area on Thursday, in the first December general election since 1923.

    All three candidates keep their deposits, after receiving more than 5% of the votes.
