Clinton's first question comes from a teacher in the audience who asks if she is modelling appropriate and positive behaviour for young people.
"It is very important for us to make clear to our children that our country really is great," she said.
She added she wants Americans "to respect one another" and "lift each other up" as well as look for ways to celebrate our diversity.
"Our country is great because we are good," she says, roaming the platform.
"We are going to respect one another, lift each other up", she says.
Clinton says she wants to "overcome the divisiveness".
“I will work for every American,” Clinton says, “I want to heal our country and bring it together.”
