  1. What's happening around the festival?published at 21:03 British Summer Time 24 June 2023

We're deep into day two of the full music schedule at Glasto, and we're feeling the heat.

It's safe to say there's a huge range of acts entertaining across Worthy Farm as we speak.

The Pyramid Stage is empty right now as fans eagerly await headliners Guns N' Roses.

Meanwhile, on the Other Stage, rap sensation Central Cee has got crowds jumping.

The West Holts is grooving out to the sweet sounds of RnB and Neo Soul, courtesy of Mahalia.

And on the Woodsies is pop singer Rina Sawayama.

Up next on the Park Stage is Leftfield, an electronic DJ duo that will be sure to get feet moving.

Mahalia is on the West Holts stage now, but she said she's going to need the audience's help after she watched the Foo Fighters last night - her "throat has taken a bit of a beating".

She played it cool though, kicking off her set with the melodic and groovy Simmer.

"I'm very, very excited to be with you," she tells the high-energy audience.

Despite it being her third time at Glastonbury, she said "I never ever thought that I would play this stage".

  3. In Pictures: Outfit changes, inspiring speeches, and a lot of funpublished at 20:47 British Summer Time 24 June 2023

Lizzo has just been wrapping up her energetic and empowering set, and all the rumours are true, she knows how to bring a crowd.

From outfit changes to motivational speeches, Lizzo certainly treated crowds to a special performance.

You can catch her set again later on BBC iPlayer and also on BBC Sounds.

Amid the 2,000 acts playing this weekend, another to watch is Loyle Carner.

He’s headlining the West Holts stage with a powerful, dramatic reading of his latest album Hugo – which explores how the difficult relationship with his father has changed since he became a dad himself.

Meanwhile, Lana Del Rey tops the bill on The Other Stage, while Christine And The Queens is ruling the roost at Woodsies.

I’m also hoping to catch Rina Sawayama (Woodsies, 21:00) but let’s see how the day pans out.

Lizzo and her flute are getting the party started here as the sun starts to set behind the Pyramid stage.

I found Amanda Cole-Philips enjoying the American star's set.

She told me she wouldn't miss it as Lizzo's an amazing singer who's great fun and has great body positivity.

She'll be sticking around for tonight's headliners Guns N' Roses, which will be quite the gear change.

  6. What a Saturday at Glasto!published at 20:24 British Summer Time 24 June 2023

    Jack Burgess
    BBC News Live reporter

Wow, what a Saturday this is turning out to be at Glastonbury 2023.

From Lizzo captivating the iconic Pyramid Stage, to Lewis Capaldi charming crowds before losing his voice, the Manic Street Preachers banging out classic after classic, and Rick Astley turning Worthy Farm into Astonbury.

There's still loads to come, with headliners Guns N' Roses set to rock the main stage from 21:30 BST.

We're getting ready to sing along to Paradise City and Sweet Child O' Mine here in the office.

Stick with us as we bring you all the latest Glasto gossip until the early hours.

  7. Say something kind about ourselves - Lizzopublished at 20:17 British Summer Time 24 June 2023

Lizzo kicks off her set with Cuz I Love You, the title track of her 2019 breakthrough album, before being joined by her troupe of dancers for a rendition of Juice, from the same album.

During a break in between songs, she asks the crowd: "When was the last time you said something kind about yourself?

"Right now we're going to say something kind about ourselves, because it's been to damn long."

She gets the crowd to repeat the line "I'm the one" as she begins to sing Soulmate, singing: "I know how to love me. I'm my own soulmate".

Like a glitter cannon, with a triple whammy of life-affirming pop hits: Cuz I Love You, Juice and 2B Loved.

With bright, colourful hair and a steampunk ball gown, she looks like she’s been beamed in from another planet; and the packed Pyramid Stage audience is willingly caught in her tractor beam (farm-based pun intentional).

She keeps the bangers coming - the gospel soul sounds of Special are a real showcase for her voice - and there’s a real sense that she’s reaching out and clasping the audience to her, as she sings heartfelt songs of self-acceptance and self-love.

  9. I’m so excited for Måneskinpublished at 20:04 British Summer Time 24 June 2023

    Måneskin at Glastonbury

As the BBC’s recent Eurovision reporter, it was inevitable I’d find myself in the middle of the crowd for Måneskin (after Ja Ja Ding Dong from the Eurovision film was blasted through the speakers as a warm-up).

Måneskin are one of the Eurovision Song Contest’s biggest ever success stories, with some help from TikTok, after the rock group won for Italy two years ago.

Earlier this year they were nominated for a Grammy Award, and are about to tour the US after recently playing London’s O2 Arena.

It’s the biggest Glastonbury crowd a Eurovision winning act has ever commanded, with thousands packed into the tent.

Eurovision Song Contest 2021 winners Måneskin are up next on the Woodsies stage, playing their first ever UK festival show.

Over in their home country of Italy, they say, there’s nothing like this.

“We don't have a huge rock culture,” says singer Damiano David. “The closest we have are raves,” adds drummer Ethan Torchio.

“So coming here is crazy,” says bassist Victoria D'Angelis. “It looks like a festival from the 1970s, in some sense. It's so many people.”

We chat two hours before they take the stage and, the band confess, their energy levels are “really low”.

“But we just need a fresh shower, and then we’ll be ready to bring the heat,” says D’Angelis.

Anyone who’s seen their incendiary live show already knows that’s not an empty promise.

Manic Street Preachers are delivering a blistering greatest hits set over in The Other Stage, kicking off with Motorcycle Emptiness - a song that infamously tried to marry the pathos of British rock with the brash energy of tonight’s headliners Guns N’ Roses.

A few friends said leader singer James Dean Bradfield’s vocals were a touch wobbly as the Manics took the stage, but by the time I arrive for A Design For Life, he’s sounding fully warmed up.

A solo acoustic take on La Tristesse Durera (Scream to a Sigh) is an easy highlight, with Bradfield hitting the high notes like the missing member of the Bee Gees.

  12. Lizzo takes to the Pyramid Stagepublished at 19:40 British Summer Time 24 June 2023

American singer Lizzo has now taken to Glastonbury's main stage, ahead of tonight's headline act Guns N' Roses.

Her set began with a message on the screens which read: "These are songs about love. Self love. Family love. Friend love.

"Love is what this world needs to be a better place. Take time to give love to yourself everyday.

"Treat yourself the way you deserve to be treated. Treat others the same."

What feels like a whole world away from Rick Astley right now are the sounds booming from the West Holts Stage.

Ezra Collective, a jazz quintet, are bringing their funky and fresh sound to Glasto with powerful saxophone solos and a lot of stage presence.

The crowd is clearly loving it as they sway to the rhythms.

I know it's hot outside, but this keyboard player seem to be on fire.

  14. Designers “bizzo for Lizzo” and her Glastonbury wardrobepublished at 19:24 British Summer Time 24 June 2023

American singer Lizzo is performing on the Pyramid Stage shortly (we're expecting her at about 19:30 BST) and her upbeat music will no doubt attract a full audience.

Typically, she brings the glam to her sets with an array of outfits, and Glastonbury will be no different.

Ahead of the gig, she’s been performing in Belfast, where a team of five have been helping to get her wardrobe ready.

Connor Kerr said the team were doing everything from "washing knickers" to helping prepare outfits and accessories to go on stage, both for the Belfast gig and Lizzo's performance at Glastonbury.

The team spent 15 hours working from nine in the morning until midnight for the show.

"I always I knew that Lizzo was well known for her looks and bringing that type of energy to the stage, but she had a tonne of outfit changes," added Connor.

Glastonbury newbie Rick Astley told me performing at the festival was “wild”, after he came off the Pyramid stage, saying it was “the biggest audience I’ve sung in front of” and “emotionally amazing, an out of body experience”.

Astley didn’t disappoint the crowds who stretched way back up the hill, saving his 1987 number one and recent viral hit Never Gonna Give You Up for an extended finale.

He has also performed another set - Smiths covers with Blossoms - on the Woodsies stage - and told me he hopes he’ll perform at Glastonbury in future.

“I’d come back and play anywhere,” he said, “I’ll play in the car park”.

You can catch Rick Astley's set again on BBC iPlayer.

    Rick Astley and Blossoms

Rick Astley can't get enough of Glastonbury.

Appearing on the main stage earlier clearly wasn't enough for him, as he's now joining pop band Blossoms on the Woodsies stage.

Together they're singing hit songs by The Smiths.

They opened with This Charming Man, The Devil Will Find Work (with falsetto) and Big Mouth Strikes Again.

All singing, all dancing, and sometimes flute-playing US pop sensation Lizzo will bring party vibes to the Pyramid Stage from 19:30 BST.

That’s the same time that Eurovision Song Contest 2021 winners, the Italian rock band Måneskin, will perform at the Woodsies stage.

Fans of both of the above can come together at 21:00, though, to see British-Japanese rising star Rina Sawayama perform.

The main man to watch at the Other Stage this evening, at 20:45 specifically, will be West London’s Central Cee, who topped the UK singles chart last week.

His track, Sprinter, which set a streaming record in the process, is a collaboration with fellow rapper Dave - who does not appear to have any gigs of his own booked for this weekend. Cough cough.

Right now, former Glastonbury headliners Manic Street Preachers are playing the Other Stage, setting the guitar hero standard for Slash and co to follow later on.

Meanwhile, Tinariwen’s brand of Saharan desert blues, which you can catch the end of on the Park Stage if you're quick, is just made for festival audiences.

Forget Glastonbury, today Worthy Farm became Rick Astonbury.

Earlier, thousands of fans gathered at the Pyramid Stage at midday, eager for the chance to be Rickrolled in person.

And Astley didn't disappoint, rewarding them with a jubilant version of Never Gonna Give You Up that permanently redefined the term crowd-pleaser.

Speaking to the BBC before the show, he said being booked to play the festival was simultaneously "a bizarre stroke of luck" and "pretty bonkers".

  20. Forty years without missing Glastopublished at 18:50 British Summer Time 24 June 2023

    Reporting from Glastonbury

    Andy Hobbs and Leanne Graham

For the last 40 years, Andy Hobbs from Southampton has not missed a single Glastonbury Festival and this year is the first time he's persuaded his daughter Leanne Graham to come along.

Tonight's headliners will be particularly special for them as Andy walked Leanne down the aisle to arguably Guns N' Roses' most famous song - Sweet Child O' Mine - at her recent wedding.

Andy says he'll be in tears when they finally get to see the band play it live together tonight.

Leanne says she's now a complete convert and will get her mum to come next year.
