  2. Emergency services lend a hand to Cumbriapublished at 12:23

    Emergency services in Cumbria are naturally being stretched with all the flooding and subsequent damage, so resources from from other areas are joining in the effort. 

    West Midlands Fire Service has sent firefighters and specialist equipment, while control staff in its Birmingham office are helping with responses to the high number of calls being made. 

    The service has also mobilised a pumping unit from Rugeley and a boat crew from Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire.

  7. Flood risk expected to lower in Taysidepublished at 12:08

    Police Scotland's Tayside division said several flood warnings remain in place across the area, but added that the risk is expected to lower during the day.

    A spokesman said: "There are a number of road closures across the region, due to localised flooding, and Queens Bridge in Perth will remain closed until the situation can be re-evaluated after high tide this lunchtime.

    "We can confirm that the M90 is now fully open.

    "The public are advised of two landslides in the area - at Glen Lyon and on the A827 Kenmore to Killin Road."

    BBC Weather's John Hammond, who is in Keswick in Cumbria, says:

    In terms of rainfall, it's totally dry here now and will generally remain so for the rest of the day, but we are concerned about further rainfall through this week. There is more heavy rain in the forecast for flood affected areas in the next few days and river levels downstream could be adversely affected. We'll particularly be watching the Rivers Ouse and Severn closely"

    Anthony Day, of BBC Newcastle, reports that some cars are under 4ft (1.2m) of water in the south of Corbridge, Northumberland.

    He also says the fire brigade is rescuing people trapped in the pub opposite.

    A member of the Armed Forces lent a hand to this elderly woman, who had to be rescued from her home in Carlisle.

    In Northern Ireland the fire and rescue service have helped several people from their homes and cars due to flooding in the Western Counties of Tyrone, Fermanagh and Londonderry. 

    A number of roads are closed due to flooding. 

    Foyle Search and Rescue team had to use a digger to help an elderly man to safety in the village of Clady in County Tyrone, on Saturday evening, as the river Finn burst its banks.
