    A police-led campaign has raised more than £100,000 for the family of PC Keith Palmer, who was killed in Wednesday's attack.

    The Metropolitan Police Federation, which represents police in the area, reached 50% of its £200,000 fundraising target on JustGiving, external , within 24 hours of the fatal stabbing.

    The man police believe to be responsible for the terrorist attack in Westminster has been formally identified as Khalid Masood, Scotland Yard says. 

    Masood, aged 52, was born in Kent and detectives believe he was most recently living in the West Midlands. 

    Masood was not the subject of any current investigations and there was no prior intelligence about his intent to mount a terrorist attack, police say. 

    However, he was known to the police and had a range of previous convictions for assaults, including GBH, possession of offensive weapons and public order offences.

    He has not been convicted of any terrorism offences.

    More than £10,000 has been donated to London’s Air Ambulance after the crew took part in the response to the Westminster attacks.

    The charity’s medical director Dr Gareth Davies, said he had been “blown away by the generosity of Londoners”.

    “We would also like to thank the members of the public and medical professionals who showed courage and strength by rallying together to help in what must have been the most frightening ordeal,” he said.

    Italy's ambassador has visited an injured Italian woman in hospital, the BBC's Diplomatic Correspondent James Landale reports.

    "Pasquale Terracciano has visited an Italian woman in hospital who lost consciousness for about 10 minutes after being struck by the car's bumper. The woman, a tourist from Rome, underwent surgery for a compound leg fracture. She also suffered a less serious injury to two of her vertebrae near her neck, and head trauma."

    Further victims who were killed in Wednesday's attacks have been named. 

    US tourist Kurt Cochran and college worker Aysha Frade were killed. PC Keith Palmer was stabbed to death within the grounds of the Palace of Wesminster.

    A Parliamentary worker has told how she was separated from her two-year-old son for hours as Westminster was in lock down during Wednesday's terror attack. Plaid Cymru assistant Rhian Medi Roberts' son Owain was kept in the parliamentary nursery while she was ordered to stay in her office. She said she rushed to him when workers were "freed" hours later but she knew he was safe. MPs, peers and staff returned to work on Thursday.

    Solicitor Mike Pullen witnessed the attack as his cab passed Parliament.

    "There was an almighty bang behind me and the taxi driver said ‘don’t look, my God he’s just killed those people’," he told BBC Radio 4's World at One programme.

    He said "people were screaming and running away" from the vehicle.

    "The car ploughed into the railings... My first thought was that it was a traffic accident."

    Kurt Cochran, from Utah, died and his wife Melissa was critically injured.

    The couple were visiting her parents who work at a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints mission in London.
