Princess Eugenie was born with scoliosis and had surgery when she was 12 to correct curvature of the spine.

Jan Lehovsky, a surgeon at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, was part of the team who operated on her and is among the wedding guests.

Princess Eugenie is now a patron of the hospital’s charity.

    Quote Message

“It’s an honour to be here. And it’s so important to have her involved with the charity. Most of the patients affected by scoliosis are young girls and she’s a real role model for them. She’s someone who can inspire them, which is so important for the young ladies coming through the surgery. Princess Eugenie shows them they can lead a normal life despite having this condition. It’s quite comforting for them and really lifts them.

The BBC's royal correspondent Jonny Dymond writes...

Wedding guests hold onto their head wear in the windy conditions as they arrive for the weddingImage source, PA

It's cool and blustery at Windsor and outside the castle the crowds are pretty thin.

It's a far cry from the last royal wedding here when, by now, the pavements were jammed with people.

But there's still some time until the carriage ride, so people may be looking at the overcast skies and hedging their bets.

Inside St George's Chapel, autumnal flowers line the stalls of the Quire leading up to the altar.

Just one ring will be exchanged in today's ceremony - Jack Brooksbank will join Prince William in keeping his hand unadorned.
