    The scene has got a lot calmer. Most of the emergency vehicles lining the common have now left.

    More than a dozen firefighters walked away from the school entrance removing their uniforms and heading back to their vehicles.

    However, there is still a very wide police cordon in place around the road leading to the school entrance.

    We understand most of the children have left the school, but we have seen a young girl just leaving looking visibly distressed.

    The Study Prep is private, fee paying primary school for girls, founded in 1893.

    It is located in Wimbledon Village, on the edge of the Common and just one mile from the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club where the annual tennis championship is taking place.

    The education secretary says she is "deeply concerned" by the crash.

    Writing on Twitter, external, Gillian Keegan says: "I am deeply concerned by reports of an incident at a primary school in Wimbledon this morning.

    "My thoughts are with families, staff and the community involved and I am hugely grateful for the fast action of the emergency services who are currently at the scene."

    Home Secretary Suella Braverman has also tweeted, external, saying she is "saddened"by the "tragic incident" and thanking emergency responders.

    There are a significant number of emergency vehicles on the scene - close to two dozen in total, mostly ambulances and fire service.

    There’s a steady flow of personnel coming from the cordoned off school entrance, going to and from their vehicles on the other side.

    We’ve seen a young girl being supported by an older adult while leaving the school premises. Both were without shoes.

    There are around 20 or so ambulances which appear to be on standby here on Camp Road, along with two fire and rescue vehicles .

    Beyond the cordon it appears that there are one or two ambulances and police vehicles treating casualties.

    But, from where I am standing at the edge of the cordon at the top of Camp Road there is a real mixture of onlookers.

    They include frantic, worried parents who have been turning up all morning. Once they arrive at the scene they're asked to register their names and details with a police officer.

    Many of them are staying at the scene, huddled in groups chatting and looking very concerned about what has happened at The Study Prep.

    A number of the injured are "being treated as critical", the MP for the area has told the BBC.

    Speaking a few moments ago, Stephen Hammond says he believes the building the Land Rover crashed into was for children aged between four and eight years old.

    He describes the crash as an "extraordinarily distressing and tragic incident on the last day of term", confirming a major incident has been declared.

    On Twitter, we've heard from the organisation that cares for Wimbledon and Putney Commons - green spaces nearby. They have urged the public to stay away from the area.

    They said: "Following an incident at the edge of the Common on Camp Road, the public are asked to avoid that area of the Commons to allow free access to the emergency services. Thank you.

    "Emergency vehicles are likely to be using the Commons to get to the location so please be alert to what is happening and follow instructions from our staff."

    We’ve had this statement from the Met Police: "Police were called at 09:54hrs on Thursday, 6 July to reports of a Land Rover vehicle having collided with a primary school building at Camp Road, SW19.

    "Officers and the London Ambulance Service are at the scene.

    "We are aware of several casualties. We await further updates regarding injuries.

    "Officers remain on scene. This incident is ongoing."

    London Fire Brigade say they have two fire engines and two fire rescue units at the school.
