  3. The situation in Walespublished at 13.22

    Flooding caused by Storm Frank in Wales has caused problems for motorists on the M4.

    Police have dealt with three separate crashes where there was standing water on both sides of the motorway between junctions 35 (Pencoed) and 36 (Sarn).

    One lane is also blocked due to flooding on the eastbound section at junction 26 for Malpas.

    The Met Office, external has issued a weather warning for rain until 15:00 GMT.

    Flood water has also caused delays on the trains. Arriva Trains Wales said no trains would run between Bridgend and Cardiff.

  9. Wales: Power restored to propertiespublished at 12:29

    More than 1,100 properties were left without power after Storm Frank hit Wales, but the majority have now been reconnected.

    In Carmarthenshire, 498 homes were cut off, along with 272 in Pembrokeshire, 207 in Rhondda Cynon Taff and 150 in Swansea.

    Western Power Distribution says it has restored power to most areas including pockets of Ceredigion and Newport.

  11. Weston-super-Mare: Part of historic pier collapsespublished at 12:20

    A walkway at Birnbeck Pier has collapsed into the Bristol Channel, the Birnbeck Regeneration Trust says.

    The structure is among the 10 most endangered buildings on a list compiled by The Victorian Society, external.

    Actor Timothy West recently visited the pier and said it would be "a significant loss" if it collapsed.

  12. Tadcaster clean-up operation after bridge collapsepublished at 12:17

    A cordon is still in place around the collapsed bridge which has split the town of Tadcaster. 

    The army, charities and residents are now helping with the clean-up effort. 

    Flood-damaged belongings are being stacked outside homes and businesses as residents come to terms with the damage.

  13. Lancashire: River Douglas, Croston, flooding fearspublished at 12:08

    The BBC's Annita McVeigh is in Croston and has been hearing villagers' concerns that the River Douglas is in danger of bursting its banks.

    She said a hole "has been dug in the bank of the River Douglas to try to lower the water level, but there are fears that the river might now cause further flooding in the village here".

  14. Dumfries: 'Take action now', residents warnedpublished at 12:04

    Emergency plans are in place in Dumfries and Galloway.

    "The recommendation is that if you live near the River Nith take action now. Our first concerns are with safety," chief executive of Dumfries and Galloway Council Gavin Stevenson told the BBC. 

    "Water here will rise dramatically, probably to the top of the traffic lights. 

    "We're expecting a peak between 1pm and 2pm with a surge at 3pm when the tide comes in. We're expecting a high tide so we're looking at this rising to at least six to seven feet where we're standing just now."

    A toolmaker who built his own flood defences, including pumps and a flood gate, has demonstrated how they are protecting his house.
