    Vernon Dandy responded by email to the claims by South East rail operators that the upgrade work at London Bridge has been causing disruption to their services.  

    "The London Bridge works issue does not explain the large number of trains that are cancelled on Southern due to staff absence.

    "It is a red herring used to disguise poor management."

    Of our four reporters travelling to the capital by train this morning, Chrissie Reidy was the most delayed, arriving 18 minutes late on her Southern train from Brighton to Victoria. 

    Ben Weisz was seven minutes late on his journey from Brighton to St Pancras on the Thameslink service.

    Peter Whittlesea was 1 minute 40 seconds late (exactly) on his train from Canterbury East to Victoria. 

    Jack Fiehn had the best journey today with his train from Woking to Waterloo arriving on time. "It wasn't too crowded," he says.

    My commute relies on catching a connecting train and I’d usually miss the connection 3 to 4 times a week because Southern was always running late. I now have to catch a much earlier train to ensure I get to work on time because I can’t trust Southern.

    Earlier this morning four BBC South East reporters set off on London-bound trains from Kent, Sussex and Surrey. 

    They have all arrived in the capital now. Did their trains get to London on time though?

  8. Which? calls for easier rail refund processpublished at 09:19 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2016

    Which?'s campaign to Make Rail Refunds Easier, external is calling for train operators to do more to make rail delay refunds easier. 

    They say three in 10 (28%) respondents want better information at stations, and 17% want clearer explanations on trains.

    The survey also found that around one in 10 (12%) travellers felt they had reason to complain about their last journey but disappointingly, a third (35%) of those that did complain were dissatisfied with how their complaint was resolved.

    Just above Southeastern at the bottom of the table for customer satisfaction ratings were Abellio Greater Anglia with a 47% score, Southern (48%) and Arriva Trains Wales (49%).

    Tim Loughton, MP for East Worthing and Shoreham, says he has been posting Govia Thameslink's punctuality "or lack of it" on his website, external for the last two weeks.

    "To add insult to injury they now want to close down local ticket offices."

    BBC Surrey's Jack Fiehn says he's arrived on time at London Waterloo after travelling on the 07:32 from Woking this morning. 

    "On time and not too crowded - although accept this might not be usual."
