The Transport Secretary, Chris Grayling, has not backed down from his criticism of the strike action on the Southern network.
He labelled the union's safety fears as "absolute palpable nonsense".

Southern Rail has repeatedly apologised for the impact of the ongoing industrial dispute with the RMT and Aslef, over the change to role of guards and safety concerns about driver-only operated trains.
But in an interview with BBC South East Today's Polly Evans, a senior manager said he believed the short term pain was worth it to have a more efficient service.

Hundreds of thousands of passengers are facing the worst rail disruption for a generation, as drivers with the Aslef union begin three days of strike action.
The Transport Secretary, Chris Grayling MP, yesterday claimed the strike was entirely politically motivated, and accused Aslef of refusing fresh talks with Southern.
