    Great news for cyclists who prefer their riding off-road - Leeds Urban Bike Park is ready for action.

    The £1.2m development is built on the former Middleton Park golf course.

    The site's been transformed into a series of ramps and jumps for bikers, along with a cafe and shop.

    Police investigating the supply of heroin and crack cocaine in the Eastwood area of Rotherham have charged seven men.

    Officers say they recovered more than £10,000 of drugs and £2,000 in cash during a recent operation, external.

    It's been closed for over two years but tomorrow one of York's most historic buildings finally re-opens.

    The Mansion House is home to the city's Lord Mayor and was built in 1732.

  5. European Arrest Warrant: Police want this manpublished at 17:05 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2017

    Police are looking for this man who is wanted on a European Arrest Warrant for human trafficking.

    He may be in the Beeston area of Leeds.

    Attila Foeldesi 45, is the subject of a European Arrest Warrant after being found guilty of offences of human trafficking and theft in Hungary.

    He is also known to use the name Foldesi.

    He was sentenced to over five years in prison for the offences.

    Officers have been conducting extensive inquiries to find him.

    It is believed that Foeldesi has been living in the Beeston area of Leeds but that he may have contacts across West Yorkshire.

    From tonight one of Sheffield’s main streets for late-night revellers - Carver Street - will be closed to vehicles at night over the festive period, to help party-goers stay safe.

    Carver Street is well-known for some of the most popular clubs and bars in the city and large numbers of people are expected to visit the area on the run up to Christmas.

    Sheffield City Council and South Yorkshire Police have agreed to close the street to vehicles on a trial basis, from midnight (00:00) until 05:00 every Friday and Saturday, from 1 to 23 December, plus Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

    Police are asking all of us to look out for our older neighbours during the cold weather after a North Yorkshire woman in her 90s was found unconscious at home.

    Police broke into her home in Thornton-le-Dale after neighbours saw her curtains had been kept closed.

    The woman's now receiving hospital treatment.

    Senior politicians in York are to consider building the UK's first Centre of Excellence to help disabled children and their families stay in their local communities.

    A report going before the council's executive says the Special Educational Needs and Disability Centre is one of the options for Windsor House, in the Hob Moor area of the city.

    It was closed as part of the process to modernise older people's accommodation.

    Councillor Stuart Rawlings, who has responsibility for younger people in York, says he hopes the centre could be open by 2019:

    East Riding councillors will be asked to get behind efforts to reopen the Beverley to York rail line.

    Liberal Democrat councillor Denis Healy says he will put a motion to the council in the new year, urging councillors to support the project.

    The Transport Secretary Chris Grayling announced on Wednesday he would like to see some railways that were closed in the 1960s, reopened.

    Police in Sheffield have charged a 45-year-old man with two counts of attempted murder after two men were seriously injured in separate incidents.

    Albert Needham, of Erskine Crescent, Arbourthorne, appeared at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today in connection with two incidents in the last week.

    The first charge follows an incident last Sunday at a property in the Erskine Road area when a man suffered serious injuries to the neck.

    The second charge relates to an incident on Wednesday at a property in the same area, when a second man suffered serious injury to the neck.

    Albert Needham was remanded to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Wednesday 20 December.

    Don Valley MP Caroline Flint is to raise the closure of two NatWest branches with a government minister.

    The closures are part of national closure plans by the Royal Bank of Scotland which affects 19 branches in Yorkshire.

    Plans to begin fracking in North Yorkshire have stalled due to government work to close a legal loophole, campaigners claim.

    A decision on the KM8 site in Kirby Misperton had been expected imminently, but a loophole in the Infrastructure Act 2015 had to be dealt with.

    It allowed wells drilled before 2015 to be fracked without government consent.

    KM8 was drilled in 2013 but the government said there was "no set deadline" for Kirby Misperton.

    A 78-year-old cyclist has died from his injuries following a collision involving a minibus.

    The accident happened last Saturday lunchtime on Pontefract Road in Cudworth.

    A 52-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

    He was released under investigation while inquiries continue.

    A sex offender who preyed on a nine-year-old boy has been jailed for 13 years.

    Michael Daniel, aged 65, of Lavender Way in Wincobank, admitted his crimes, external and was charged with five counts of sexual assault on a child under the age of 13 and one count of engaging in sexual activity with a child under the age of 13.

    New images of the planned redevelopment of Barnsley's Peel Square and Cheapside - part of upcoming changes in the town centre - have been revealed.

    The public toilets in Peel Square are set to go, as are the outdoor market stalls, while May Day Green and Cheapside will get a "craggy" look and will still feature outdoor market stalls.
