    Sheffield's Park Hill flats, external complex has been named as one of the top 10 homes and gardens in England.

    The award comes as part of a new campaign by Historic England called A History of England in 100 Places, external.

    The panel, chaired by architect George Clarke, noted the estate's "brutalist" design, which divided opinion, but has played an important part in providing more ethical social housing.

    Hull Trains say there could be delays on services betwee Gilberdyke and Selby this morning, because of a fault with the signalling system.

    It says trains are having to run at a reduced speed.

    The disruption is expected to continue until 09:30.

    Traffic is no longer able to leave the M1 northbound at J33 for the Sheffield Parkway.

    This is part of an ongoing incident involving an accident and subsequent emergency repairs in the area.

  7. Leeds refugee charity theft: 'This robbery hurt'published at 08:18 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2017

    Items collected by a Leeds charity which were intended for distribution among refugees have been damaged and stolen by intruders.

    Burglars broke into Slung Low Theatre in Holbeck, where charity Yorkshire Aid was storing items meant for refugee camps in Europe.

    Alan Lane, from Slung Low, says: "The thing we felt was particularly hurtful was that we'd promised to look after the things Yorkshire Aid had been given to store for refugees and we've failed to do that.

    "There's a sense that our stuff can be replaced, it's insured, but we've failed to honour the promise to take care of Yorkshire Aid's stuff. This robbery hurt."

    An appeal's now been launched asking for donations to replace the stolen items.

    All traffic is being temporarily held as it's being dealt with.

    The latest from Highways England is that they don't expect things to get back to normal until about 10:45 at the earliest and that there are delays of one-and-a-half-hours.

    The crash on the A1(M) northbound is inevitably causing problems with public transport.

    West Yorkshire Metro points out that three of its bus services will be caught up in the hour-long delay being reported.

    There are now about six miles of queues leading up to J44, where a van has overturned.

    A new appeal to raise millions of pounds towards the restoration of the roof at one of North Yorkshire's oldest buildings has been launched.

    Water is leaking into Selby Abbey due to problems with the gutters and roofing on the 950-year-old building.

    The trust which looks after the site says it won't come cheap,wth a price tag of about £3m.

    Appeal director Jeremy Gaskell says: "It's all high-level work, all 100ft up, so it has to have scaffolding and that's really expensive."

  16. Devolution referendum gets under way in South Yorkshirepublished at 06:59 Greenwich Mean Time 1 December 2017

    Voting slips are due to start dropping through letterboxes in Barnsley and Doncaster today as the two towns begin their poll on devolution.

    Local residents will get a leaflet written by the councils and voting slip asking for them to choose between a South Yorkshire deal, which will mean more powers from the government, or a Yorkshire-wide proposal instead.

    Under the terms of the Sheffield City Region deal, external, which was agreed in 2015, an elected mayor will have powers over transport budgets and strategic planning and access to £30m per year for 30 years.

    The "One Yorkshire" proposal was first put forward in August, when 17 of the 20 councils in the county said they wanted to pursue a county-wide deal.

    While not legally binding, the councils say they will respect the result.

    The councils are spending £240,000 on the vote, with the result expected to be revealed on 21 December.

    A decision's due to be made at the High Court later over whether Bradford-based Morrisons is liable after personal details of thousands staff members were posted online.

    Lawyers say the first data leak class action in the UK has potential implications for every individual and business in the country after a Morrisons member of staff stole the data of nearly 100,000 employees in 2014.

    Andrew Skelton, an auditor at the firm's Bradford head office, was jailed for eight years in 2015.

    The company's workers are claiming compensation for the "upset and distress" caused, but Morrisons denies liability.
