    Another railway line's had to be closed due to flooding.

    Great Western Railway tweeted, external it was shut between Great Malvern and Hereford and all services between those stations could be cancelled or revised.

    It adds to the major problems affecting services across the Midlands this evening with National Rail Enquiries saying there are multiple incidents across the region.

    To give you an idea of the severity of the flooding in the area, Network Rail tweeted this photo, external of the tunnel between Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon:

    The fire service has again warned motorists about the dangers of trying to drive through fords.

  3. Flood barriers prepared in Ironbridgepublished at 18:35 Greenwich Mean Time 14 November 2019

    Preparations are being made in Ironbridge, in case the flood barriers need to be put alongside the River Severn in this part of Shropshire.

    Telford and Wrekin Council said no parking signs had been put up along The Wharfage and a decision would probably be made on Friday morning, once it's clear how much rain falls.

    People still thinking of using train services in the West Midlands this evening are being urged not to.

    British Transport Police and Network Rail said a "vast amount" of services were being cancelled or delayed due to flooding and landslides.

    They tweeted, external people should only travel if "absolutely necessary".

    National Rail Enquiries says, external it does not know when the disruption will end and is affecting CrossCountry, London Northwestern, Virgin Trains and West Midlands Railway services.

    People living in Shipston-on-Stour, Warwickshire, are facing a nervous few hours as river levels continue to rise in the flood-hit town. , external

    Earlier this afternoon, the fire service tweeted, external their crew in Shipston twice had to rescue people trapped in their vehicles.

    Sue Deakin, who works at equestrian shop Rimell Sadders in the town, has been anxiously watching the rising waters.

    She said: "If it does reach us, we've got to get the stock upstairs out of the water but, hopefully, it won't get that far. Just waiting patiently and praying that it won't get to us."

    While Philip, who lives in the area, said a lot of the local villages were cut off by the flooding.

    He added: "There have been places like the medical centre that have not been able to get all their staff in today so they've been calling round people with health qualifications to come in and help them out."

    The fire service in Hereford and Worcester has been busy today, but it appears the flooding isn't quite as bad as last month.

    It said between 26 and 28 October it was called to 47 stranded cars, rescued about 150 people using boats, visited 56 homes that were at risk of becoming cut off and saved 16 dogs, three cats and two hamsters.

    The flood waters were ankle-deep around Anne Hathaway's cottage in Stratford-upon-Avon as the visitor attraction was forced to shut earlier.

    It didn't put off one dog walker from taking his pet for more of a swim than a walk past the Warwickshire landmark.

    Flooding has made driving difficult across the West Midlands region today.

    The emergency services have warned motorists not to attempt to drive through deep water, but some still persevered.

    Flooding on the railway lines is continuing to disrupt train services this evening and National Rail Enquiries said it's not possible to say how long this will continue.

    It means delayed, cancelled or revised services on a number of routes and extra congestion at stations.

    This was the scene at Wood End station between Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon a short time ago.

    The affected services include:

    • Cross Country trains between Birmingham New Street and Cheltenham Spa, and between Birmingham New Street and Bournemouth
    • Trains between Birmingham and Cardiff
    • Trains between Birmingham and Bristol
    • Trains between Birmingham International and Coventry
    • Trains between Northampton and Rugby
    • Trains between Great Malvern and Hereford
    • Trains between Birmingham and Worcester

    And other services are also being affected, simply because of congestion at stations and along rail routes.

    As you can see from this West Midlands flood map from the Environment Agency, there are flood alerts or flood warnings for just about every river in our region this evening.

    And the peak for most of them isn't expected until tomorrow and it means flooding of property, roads and farmland is expected.

    Anne Hathaway's cottage in Stratford-upon-Avon had to close around lunchtime today because of flooding on the surrounding roads.

    The thatched cottage is where Shakespeare's wife lived as a child.

    The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust said it would try to reopen it tomorrow, but it doesn't yet know if this will be possible.

    The river Stour has burst its banks at Halford, near Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire.

    A flood warning is in place from Halford to Clifford Chambers with properties in the area possibly affected.

    Rail commuters are being told to expect delays and cancellations as they try to make it home this evening.

    West Midlands Trains said this flooding on the track at Bromsgrove was affecting services between Worcester and Birmingham and there were also problems on the line between Birmingham and Stratford-upon-Avon.

    The company also warned the cancellation of services to and from the South West was having a knock-on effect on trains at Birmingham New Street.

    Diversions are in place to take drivers around Shipston-on-Stour, in Warwickshire, with many roads there closed because of flooding.

    The A448 Kidderminster Road in Bromsgrove is now completely impassable, especially by Fox Lane.

    "Numerous" vehicles have been stuck in the floodwater in the area, police say, including this one in Chaddesley Corbett.
