    Nearly 24,000 meals have been handed out to people in need across Blackpool during the coronavirus outbreak as part of a council-led emergency support programme.

    Twelve operational hubs are now in place as part of the town hall’s Corona Kindness project to support the town’s most vulnerable residents, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

    The free school meals service has also helped to feed thousands of people.

    Last week the Corona Kindness helpline received 1,174 emails, 460 calls and more than 200 offers of help from Blackpool residents, with the council contacting 300 people needing assistance.

    Tottenham say their record goalscorer Jimmy Greaves remains in hospital but "has not tested positive for Covid-19 nor suffered another stroke".

    The World Cup winner, 80, was admitted on Tuesday for an unspecified illness.

    Greaves, who scored 44 goals in 57 games for England, suffered a severe stroke in 2015.

    "Jimmy’s family has asked us to pass on their thanks for all the well wishes and positive messages," added a statement on Tottenham's website.

    The UK government will give its latest daily briefing at 17:00 BST (16:00 GMT).

    Boris Johnson is still in hospital - although he has been moved out of intensive care - and the press conference will be led by Health Secretary Matt Hancock.

    He will be joined by the chief nursing officer for England, Ruth May, and deputy chief medical officer Professor Jonathan Van Tam.

    It is "selfish to travel" during the UK's lockdown period, a hospital boss has said.

    Kate Shields, chief executive of Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust said: "People need to stay at home, they need to look after themselves and through that they will look after others and we will reduce deaths."

    Two children staged a back garden wedding ceremony for their parents - after the official event was cancelled by the coronavirus pandemic.

    Kim-Marie Gerrard, from Cheddleton in Staffordshire, was set to marry her partner Mark Tooth on Thursday.

    So rather than miss out, their two children Ruby and Louis stepped in as master of ceremonies and official photographer.

    Two more residents have died at a County Durham care home after showing coronavirus symptoms, taking the total to six.

    Bosses at Stanley Park, in Stanley, confirmed they had been suffering from fevers. Their families have been informed.

    As we reported yesterday, a number of residents are being isolated and staff have been given protective kit.

    In all, the home has facilities for 72 residents. It is not known how many are ill.

    The Easter Bunny seems to have hopped it to Bedfordshire where it has joined the police force.

    Beds Police Rural tweeted, external that the new recruit wanted to wish "everyone a Happy Easter".

    A Bristol man has raised £1,600 for NHS Charities Together by completing a half-Ironman triathlon in his back garden.

    Matt Baird completed a 1.9km swim with his feet tethered to the end of a garden pool, a 90km ride on a static bike and a 21.1km run, which equated to 1,406 lengths of his garden, finishing in a time of six hours and 40 minutes.

    Matt said: "The run was the best bit as we had my neighbours cheering, 1990s hits on the stereo and my boys Alfie and Elliott supplying me with wine gums and high-fives.

    "I finished just after the 8pm clap for the NHS and jumped back into the paddling pool."

    Residents in Cornwall are being urged to report any signs of second homes in use over the bank holiday weekend.

    Cornwall Council said people should contact the authority to allow its "enforcement teams" to deal with the situation, as well as being reported to the police.

    Reports of "unnecessary travel" or "individuals causing issues" should only be directed to the police, it said.

    Councillor Rob Nolan said the authority "strongly discouraged" people from approaching individuals directly.

    More than 500 Easter eggs that were due to be used during an annual hunt at a wildlife park have been donated to a food bank.

    Captain Tom Moore is aiming to do 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday on 30 April.

    The 99-year-old veteran is bidding to raise funds for the NHS to support the coronavirus fight as he targets walking 2.5 kilometres.

    He has been mainly housebound since a hip operation, but walks with the aid of a frame. BBC Breakfast caught up with him.

    England and Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has offered to supply a food package of essentials to the elderly in his local Mosborough area of South Yorkshire.

    Maguire's donations will also help support several local businesses, as the parcels will be made up in a shop in Mossley and delivered by a fruit and veg firm.

    Downing Street has confirmed people are allowed to buy whatever they want from shops that remain open, after concerns police are overstepping lockdown powers.

    Some police forces have warned shoppers against buying "non-essential" items.

    No 10 also said people can use their gardens as they wish, after a video showed police confronting a family for letting their children play outside.

    More than £7,500 has been raised overall to feed workers at Stepping Hill Hospital in an initiative set up by Stockport Foodie Friday, which usually meets up every month.

    The Foodie Friday team were handing out the meals - and ice cream - to NHS staff earlier today.

    Additional patrols are taking place across leisure hotspots to make sure people are social distancing.

    In Bedford, by the town's Embankment, two swans were seen observing the government guidelines.

    Bedfordshire Police said: "The bank holiday and lovely weather may tempt some to go outside, meet up with friends or family and flout government guidance, but this is the time we need to look after each other and stay at home."

    Actors Damian Lewis and Helen McCrory are to expand their initiative to get food to health workers during the coronavirus crisis.

    The stars of Homeland and Peaky Blinders have raised almost £1m after launching the Feed NHS scheme in London and are now planning to roll it out across other UK cities.

    "The public have been incredible," Lewis told the Coronavirus Newscast.

    "I know a lot of people are feeling a bit cash-strapped at the moment, so they've been unbelievably generous."
