The name was suggested as part of a Facebook challenge in which members of the public were asked to think of a name for the boat.

The winning name was suggested by Louiza Kew, who said the idea came while watching news updates on Capt Tom with her two-year-old son.

White Watch at Wellingborough, who picked the winner, thought it was a fitting tribute to Capt Tom’s efforts.

Crew commander Ronnie Sherratt said: “What a great way to pay tribute to this man’s amazing efforts for the heroes of the NHS, and a way to remember something positive from this challenging time in everyone’s lives."
