A recap of the situation so far

Well, the year may be new but this weather feels awfully familiar.

It's as we were before Christmas essentially, with Storm Henk (Gerrit is so 2023) bringing heavy rainfall that has seen river levels rise and already-sodden ground become saturated.

There are various instances of flooding across the region. We'll round up those for you during the afternoon.

In addition, the Environment Agency (EA) has issued dozens of flood warnings and flood alerts , externalfor the area, with more rain forecast.

Flood defences have been put up in Bewdley, Worcestershire, and Ironbridge and Shrewsbury in Shropshire.

Flood warnings - which mean flooding is expected - cover the River Vrynwy in north Shropshire and the length of the River Severn through Shropshire and Worcestershire.
