A Canadian IT engineer who was attacked at hotel in Luton last September has died.
Ashwin Desai suffered head injuries and never woke up from a coma. He was in the UK on a business trip and staying at the Hampton by Hilton hotel near Luton Airport when he was assaulted. Mr Desai was transferred from Addenbrooks Hospital to a hospital in Canada, where he died.
Reinis Bupolins, 21, from Latvia has been charged with attempted murder and a further count of assault against another man. Investigators are now reviewing the case in conjunction with the Crown Prosecution Service.

A man has been arrested after two touchscreen parking meters were smashed with a hammer at a gym in Hemel Hempstead.
The incident happened in the SportSpace in Park Road on 14 November.
The 49-year-old has been arrested and charged with criminal damage. He's been released on bail and will appear in court on 26 January.

Police have identified the victim of a sexual assault in Aylesbury after a public appeal.
The attack happened on New Year's Day on the Iron Bridge near Station Way.
A 21-year-old man from Aylesbury has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and released on police bail.

Ways to improve the prevention of child sexual exploitation in Buckinghamshire are being discussed by councillors today after failings were revealed following a child sex ring court case.
Last year, six men were jailed after abusing two schoolgirls in the county over a number of years.
Buckinghamshire County Council has recognised failings in the way they protect children from becoming victims of sexual exploitation. Recommendations made by a Select Committee inquiry are going to the decision-making body of the council, the cabinet.

Wycombe midfielder Matt Bloomfield says boss Gareth Ainsworth inspired their FA Cup third-round draw with Aston Villa.
Wycombe trailed 1-0 at half-time, but levelled to take it to a replay.
"He said 'You're 1-0 down but right in this game; 1-0 isn't an easy scoreline for a team that hasn't won a game in as long as them'," Bloomfield said.

Hospitals across the three counties are preparing to put in place contingency plans tomorrow as the junior doctors' strike looks set to go ahead.
Increased numbers of people attending Watford Hospital's A&E this winter has already resulted in the suspension of the adults' Minor Injuries service.
"The waiting time in the A&E department on average was seven hours and there were ambulances stacked up in the car park," said Dr Peter Carter, an independent health consultant from Hertfordshire, of Watford General last week.

MK Dons midfielder Carl Baker will be out for about seven weeks with an ankle injury suffered in the 1-1 Championship draw with Leeds United.
The 33-year-old has scored five goals in 28 games for Karl Robinson's team this term but ruptured ankle ligaments 15 minutes into the match on 2 January.

Matt Baker met a farming family near Tring who are turning oilseed rape into liquid gold - oil - and visited celebrity chef Jean-Christophe Novelli, who has recognised the product for its health benefits.
Ellie Harrison was at Heartwood Forest, near St Albans, to see how this new woodland is coming on, six years after planting began. She also visited one of Hertfordshire's 70 golf clubs to see how it's working with the local wildlife trust to encourage heathland to return.

The Conservative MP for Bedford, Richard Fuller, has vowed he will do something about the violence on Midland Road.
Six years after the unprovoked murder of her best friend Noel Smith in 2009, Norma Broughton says the area is no safer. There were 916 reported crimes in the area in the last year, 171 of which were violent.
Mr Fuller said: I'm going to do something about it. This isn't going to happen in a day, it's going to happen over time."
