    West Herts Hospitals NHS Trust, external again suspended the treatment of adults with minor ailments at Watford Hospital over the weekend due to "unprecedented demand" in its accident and emergency department.

    This morning it tweeted, external that the service was still suspended. Children’s services are unaffected.

    Prospective patients should consider other options such as the Urgent Care Centre at Hemel Hempstead Hospital or the Minor Injuries Unit at St Albans Hospital.

    The best friend of a man murdered on Midland Road in Bedford has told BBC Three Counties Radio the area is no safer six years on.

    Norma Broughton thinks that her friend Noel Smith, who was killed in an unprovoked attack in 2009, died in vain. There were 916 reported crimes in the area in the last year, 171 of which were violent.

    Bedford Borough Council, external said Midland Road was a "designated area of concern" in its licensing policy, "recognising the need for additional caution and controls".
