    A seven foot (2.1m) hole has suddenly appeared in the front garden of a family's home in Buckinghamshire.

    Emma James found the ground caving-in as the front lawn was mown in Stoke Mandeville. 

    Thames Water is coming out to inspect it next week.

    The Environment Agency, external says a month's worth of rain fell in Bedfordshire during a 12 hour period on Tuesday night and Wednesday.

    It says the water is now making its way downstream and river levels tshould go down as the forecast into next week is for dry conditions.

    A property thought to be a drugs den has been closed, external down in Luton.

    Bedfordshire Police carried out a drugs warrant this morning in Raglan Close and evidence was found of drugs use and anti-social behaviour. 

    Following an application to Luton Magistrates’ Court, a closure notice for the premises was issued this afternoon.

    Police have described the theft of sentimental items, external from a 78-year-old woman on Mother Sunday as 'cruel'.

    The family heirlooms including a bank card, keys and mobile phones were stolen from the boot of a car while the victim visited her mothers grave at Crownhill Crematorium.

    PCSO Gemma Gibbs, from Thames Valley Police, said "the victim was extremely upset and heartbroken".

    A Bedfordshire man who turned his home into a three-storey mansion says the decision he must demolish the extension within 12 months is 'ridiculous'.

    Syeed Raza Shah was given planning permission to increase the floor space of his house in Barton-Le-Clay, Bedfordshire, by about 45% in 2011.

    He previously described the house, named Random House, as an "eyesore" when he bought it in 2008 and said he believed his work had improved the property.

    A man who turned a bungalow into a three-storey mansion must demolish the extension within 12 months, a planning inspector rules.

    The picture above left is of Q Johnson, also known as Ricky or Jamie Sampson, and it's believed he has links to Bedford. 

    The other man (right) hasn't been identified, but may be known as Diego.

  12. Heirlooms stolen from crematorium car park on Mothering Sundaypublished at 15:51 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2016

    A woman from Milton Keynes had family heirlooms stolen while she was laying flowers on her mother's grave, police said.

    The 78-year-old had put a bag into the boot of her car on Mothering Sunday between 13:45 and 14:10 as she visited Crownhill Crematorium. 

    Thames Valley Police, external said someone smashed the back window and stole the bag, which contained her late mother's gold pen, rosary beards, a brooch and a necklace.

    A man had to be rescued after he fell 20m (66f) from a 30m (98f) telecommunications mast in Tingrith, close to Toddington.

    Bedfordshire Fire and Rescue Service were called yesterday and had to bring in special equipment. 

    They say the man had landed on the roof of a building causing severe injuries.

    An investigation has been launched after the body of a mutilated cat was found in Luton.

    Police believe it happened on 28 February around Whitehall Avenue. Officers working with the RSPCA say the animal was intentionally killed.

    A Hertfordshire man convicted for his part in the Hatton Garden burglary has launched an appeal.

    Carl Wood, 59, from Cheshunt, was this week jailed for six years having been found guilty of conspiracy to commit burglary and conspiracy to conceal, convert or transfer criminal property.
