    A lengthy process to get the owner of an over extended Bedfordshire house to restore it to its previous design and form is now possibly in its final stage.

    Syed Raza Shah has 12 months to make the changes to Random House in Barton-Le-Clay.

    Jason Longhurst from Central Bedfordshire Council said the decision "sends a clear message" that if planning laws are breached the authority will "apply robust enforcement measures".

    The owner of Random House in Barton-le-Clay now has 12 months to restore his house to its pre-exising design and form after a decision was made by the Planning Inspector that building work was unauthorised.

    A decision taken by the Planning Inspector meaning unauthorised extensions and alterations made to Random House in Barton-le-Clay must be demolished has been welcome by the local council.

    Planning Inspector Diane Lewis said "the differences are substantial when compared to the extension and alteration work approved under the 2011 permission. Accordingly, the 2011 permission was not implemented, but a very different scheme”.

    She added: “The current state of affairs is causing serious harm to the Green Belt and AONB [area of outstanding natural beauty] and in the public interest should be remedied as soon as reasonably possibly.”

    A Bedfordshire man who made controversial extensions and alterations to his house, has been told he will have to demolish them.

    Central Bedfordshire Council has fought a lengthy legal battle with Syed Raza Shah, over Random House which overlooks the A6 at Barton-Le-Clay.

    The council says the decision means Mr Shah has 12 months to comply and to restore the house to its pre-existing design and form, including removing all the materials from the land.

    Police are concerned about a man who's gone missing from Bedford Hospital, external because of his medical condition.

    Anthony Whitehorne, 48, was last seen in A&E at about 10:40 on Thursday morning.  

    He was last seen wearing a brown cord jacket with a black leather jacket underneath, brown trousers and a woolly hat.

    Drivers have been stuck at the Blackcat roundabout in Bedfordshire for over an hour this morning after two accidents.

    The A421 Great Barford Bypass in Roxton is partially blocked and there's queuing traffic eastbound. 

    Congestion on the bypass is described as severe.

    Thames Valley Police have confirmed a prisoner who absconded from an open jail has handed himself back in after he disappeared a month ago.

    Daniel Rutter, 43, who was serving a life sentence for wounding with intent, was last seen at HMP Springhill in Buckinghamshire on 1 February.

    Thames Valley Police said he was back in custody, external last night. His case was featured on BBC Crimewatch.

    A prisoner who absconded from Springhill open jail in Buckinghamshire last month has reportedly handed himself back in after his case featured on BBC Crimewatch last night.

    Police had warned the public not to approach Daniel Rutter, 43, who disappeared on 1 February.

    Crimewatch reported a man claiming to be Rutter handed himself in and police were verifying his identity. Thames Valley Police have yet to comment.
