    Good morning and welcome to this slightly grey, November morning.

    In case you need cheering up, there are a mere 40 days left until Christmas as of today.

    Although I appreciate that won't cheer up some of you.

    Our top story this morning is about a government debate on a petition calling for tougher charges for people who attack police dogs.

    It was prompted by the case of Finn, a German Shepherd who was stabbed while chasing a suspect in Stevenage. We'll tell you more shortly.
