  10. Man changes appearance to 'stop being mistaken for terrorist'published at 15:03 British Summer Time 3 May 2017

    Toby Friedner
    BBC Three Counties Radio

A hairdresser from Amersham says he's changed his appearance because people thought he was a terrorist.

Until two months ago John Essien had a beard and would regularly carry a rucksack.

When he travelled to work on the Tube, he said people refused to sit next to him - even on a packed train.

If his hairdressing clippers went off in his bag, he would have to get them out - to show people and stop them being so "alarmed."

He said: "It's just the whole arrogance of people, the way they are towards you and all I am doing is going to work, trying to fit in with society and being polite to people every day."

He said he could "understand" why people reacted with alarm, but "not judging people goes a long way - we're all equal and I think people do need to speak out and understand".

When he decided to shave his beard off attitudes changed straight away and people were nice to him, Mr Essien said, which left him "shocked".

While out on a recent patrol, Sgt Doug Fishwick caught several drivers using their mobile even though it's illegal.

Kate said she had "sympathy" for the man, but would "rather he lose his job than kill someone driving while texting".

    Justin Dealey
    BBC Three Counties Radio

The message that Kate Goldsmith is trying to get across to people who use their phones while driving is pretty simple - "put your phone away".

"Think about the person who's most dear to you in your life and now think about that person being killed by a driver, just like you, looking at their phone... that is why it's so important," she said.

    Kate Goldsmith

She says going out on patrol with police seeing drivers still using their phones has been a real "eye-opener".

    Alex Pope
    BBC Local Live

It seems like the weather is key to when the Airlander 10 will take its next test flight.

The company behind the world's longest aircraft, Hybrid Air Vehicles, is waiting for the right "weather window" for airborne flight testing to begin again, after it nosed-dived on only its second flight last August.

The company says the aircraft is "flight-ready", but the "weather window for the first few flights is designed to be more conservative".

A spokesman said as the "flight test programme" expands, it will be able to fly in "strong winds and a variety of weather conditions".

So it may be a few more days before the ship, named the Martha Gwyn, takes to the air once more.

"The NHS was founded by Labour, we're determined to defend it," he added.
