  18. Travel update: Newbury is 'just chaos'published at 08:42 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2016

More callers stuck in traffic this morning have let BBC Radio Berkshire know what's going on in their area.

    Quote Message

I'm stuck in traffic around Newbury coming out of Lambourne on the A338. Everything is gridlocked at J14 north of the M4. Everything is coming off at the A34 at Wantage to try and avoid junction 13, so there's about 2 miles of solid traffic trying to get away from junction 14. People are also trying to use the back roads to get into Newbury and that's causing a mile and a half of traffic getting off the B4000. The A4 is also gridlocked going towards Newbury and the A34 is solid northbound towards Tot Hill. It's just chaos in Newbury.

  20. M4 at junction 6 looks 'just grim'published at 08:19 Greenwich Mean Time 8 December 2016

    Quote Message

In the queue on the slip road past junction 6 it's just grim, I was caught right the way back at junction 4b for the M25 heading westbound. Nothing is moving very quickly. Heading toward the lane closure they've closed two of the lanes up ahead and busy rush hour traffic is trying to squeeze through one lane.
