  1. Appeal after teenager left critically ill in bus stabbingpublished at 09:50

    A 15-year-old boy is in hospital after being stabbed several times on the top deck of a bus in Birmingham police said. 

    The attack happened last night on the number 14 bus in Alum Rock - the victim suffered several wounds to his body and arm at around 19:20 on Tuesday, West Midlands Police said, external.

    Police have interviewed several witnesses at the scene and are investigating. 

  2. Morning commute the slowest ever according to latest figurespublished at 09:24

    The average speed for the morning commute in the West Midlands has dropped to 24.5 mph (40kmh).

    That's the lowest-ever recorded according to new figures from the Department of Transport.

    Wolverhampton has the slowest commuter crawl at an average of just 16.2mph (26kmh).

    The four contenders who want to be the new leader of Birmingham City Council will face voters in a hustings event tonight.

    The city's seventy-eight Labour councillors will vote in a secret ballot on Monday.

  4. Benefits Street's 'Black Dee' faces jailpublished at 08:47

    A woman who appeared on TV show Benefits Street is facing jail after being found guilty of illegally having ammunition.

    Samora Roberts, 34, known as "Black Dee", was also convicted of two counts of possession of crack cocaine with intent to supply and possession of heroin.

    Roberts, of James Turner Street, was cleared of a separate offence of having a small amount of ammunition.  

  5. The Queen visits Birmingham to officially open New Street Stationpublished at 08:31

    You might never have guessed it from this shop window, but The Queen will be in Birmingham for the official opening of the redeveloped New Street Station later.

    Security has been reviewed and increased following the Paris attacks, meaning armed police will be patrolling the city centre. 

    Her Majesty will arrive by train to open the revamped station.
