    Almost 200 cases of under 18s abusing their parents have been reported to West Midlands Police in the past 12 months.

    But according to figures, only 13 were charged and prosecuted.

    I've been speaking to parents who have experienced violence from their children first hand.

    Det Ch Insp Sally Simpson, domestic abuse lead, says: "Criminal justice outcomes aren't the only solution or the best. 

    "We have to consider the welfare of the child even though it's the child that is causing the problem."

    Prince William is in Birmingham seeing projects which support young people, including those at risk of bullying or homelessness.

    A woman and an 11-year-old boy who were hit by a car were "deliberately driven at", police have said.

    It was "only by chance" officers were not dealing with a murder inquiry, West Midlands Police said.

    The 26-year-old woman and child were hit by a silver Vauxhall Vectra as they walked along Tennyson Road in Wolverhampton at about 18:45 on Wednesday 2 December.

    A 27-year-old man has been arrested, the force said.

  6. West Midlands firefighters help with Cumbria floodingpublished at 12:04

    Firefighters from the West Midlands have been helping emergency services in Cumbria after thousands of homes were left flooded after Storm Desmond at the weekend.

    Homes across Carlisle, Keswick and Appleby are still without power while the Army spent a second day evacuating people.

    Crews from Sheldon Fire Station are among those deployed to help and pump water from affected areas.

    A new stop has started operating in Bull Street as part of a £128m extension. 

    Although services to New Street Station have been delayed until next year, bosses are confident of plans to extend the lines even further.

  16. Hundreds evacuated after fire in Birmingham city centrepublished at 08:38

    An electrical fault is being blamed for a fire at a cinema in Birmingham city centre last night. 

    Crews received more than 20 calls about the blaze at Cineworld in Broad Street just before 18:00.

    The fire is said to have started in a sign on the side of the building. 

    Hundreds of people were evacuated from the cinema as well as a nearby fast food restaurant. No-one was injured.
