It will be mainly dry overnight with clear spells and just the odd shower.

Feeling colder than last night, with a patchy frost in places - minimum temperature 1C (34F).

An armed West Midlands Police officer "unintentionally" fired a gun while searching a house in Birmingham.

Officers had gone to the house in South Road, Hockley, and arrested a 22-year-old man for possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear or violence.

The force has referred the incident in the early hours of Sunday to the Independent Police Complaints Commission.

A "gun fanatic" who shot his neighbour in the shoulder after a drunken row has been jailed for 16 years.

John Kingscott, 62, tussled in a Birmingham alley with 25-year-old Ben Milligan on 14 February, 2015.

He went home to collect a Smith & Wesson revolver, then fired twice at the victim.

Police found more than 30 guns, about 10,000 rounds of ammunition, bullet-making material and explosives at Kingscott's home.

Following last week's survey by the Which? consumer group about rail delays, train operator London Midland has tweeted its latest figures.

The parents of a boy who died after contracting meningitis B have released a photo of his final moments to raise awareness of vaccination.

Mason Timmins, seven, from Walsall, was sick a fortnight before Christmas 2013 and died the same day.

His parents Clare and Mark said many people were unaware of differing vaccines for different strains of meningitis.

A prisoner who attacked an officer at HMP Oakwood has been stripped of their privileges, G4S says.

The inmate, who reportedly attacked the officer after asking for a new television for his room, could also face extra days being added to his sentence.

The officer was treated for possible fractured ribs and a black eye.

The problem of some criminals using antique weapons is not new.

It started about five years ago but it's now got to the stage where people, including one man in Birmingham, have been murdered by someone armed with one.

During the 2011 riots a 19th-century St Etienne revolver was fired at a police helicopter and November last year saw the end of a big police operation against criminal gun dealers. 

Nosakhere 'Nosa' Stephenson was jailed for selling guns including this antique handgun from 1875.

The National Ballistics Intelligence Service wants the law tightened so it’s harder for criminals to get their hands on antique weapons.

A father has been found guilty of murder, after shaking his four-month-old daughter to death. 

Tomas Driukas (pictured) caused Deimante Driukaite to have a significant brain trauma, bruising to her face and fractured ribs because she wouldn't stop crying, a court heard.

Police say Driukas denied the charges but was found guilty of murder and two counts of wounding.     

West Midlands Police say, external the 26-year-old, of Crantock Road, Perry Barr, will be sentenced tomorrow.

A breast surgeon charged with 21 counts of unlawfully and maliciously wounding 11 patients in the West Midlands could see his trial moved to another part of the country.

Ian Paterson worked at hospitals run by the Heart of England NHS Trust and Spire Healthcare between 1997 and 2011.

The 58-year-old was due to to appear at Birmingham Crown Court this morning but was excused due to his "mental health".

Concerns had been raised about Mr Paterson's profile in the Midlands.

Judge Melbourne Inman QC said a final decision was pending, with the possibility of the trial moving to the South East.  

A trespass incident at Duddeston is causing delays of up to 20 minutes to services between Birmingham New Street and Aston. This is expected to continue until 17:30, the National Rail website , externalsays.

On the M6 a lane is closed on the exit slip road and there's slow traffic northbound at J10, A454 (Wolverhampton), because of a broken down car, BBC Travel reports.

There's also slow traffic on the M5 northbound between J5, A38 (Droitwich) and J4a M42, because of an earlier broken down vehicle.

West Bromwich Albion supporters are to hold bucket collections for a charity of Chris Brunt's choice after the defender was struck by a coin.

Brunt had gone to give his shirt to a visiting fan after Albion lost 3-1 in the FA Cup fifth round at Championship side Reading on Saturday.

Guns are something people do not like to talk about. Throughout making this programme, my team and I have been threatened by people on the streets for trying to discuss the problem.

There have been many who were willing to talk to us but pulled because they were too afraid. One man who was shot in his face five years ago only agreed to talk to us if we kept his identity hidden. 

We hear from him, plus a 25-year-old rapper known as Soxx (pictured), who says making music with people from different areas can be a big problem. 

He’s been attacked simply for working with other rappers “in different postcodes”.

Now he’s using his music to tell young people violence solves nothing.

Former West Brom and Villa Striker Gary Thompson has described the Chris Brunt coin incident over the weekend as "shocking". 

Brunt had gone over to applaud the fans after the 3-1 loss away at Reading on Saturday and appeared to be about to give away his match shirt when it happened when he was hit just below the eye by a coin thrown by own of club's supporters.

The mother of Harry Moseley, a boy who raised thousands of pounds for a cancer charity before he died of a brain tumour, is doing a 16-hour roller skate in his memory.

Harry, who died in 2011, would have been 16 today.

Georgie Moseley started at midnight and will continue to skate around until 16:00 raising money for the charity her son created Help Harry Help Others. So far £2,100 has been raised., external
