    - A legal loophole is allowing criminals to lawfully obtain weapons and commit gun crimes including murders, says West Midlands Police 

    - A new night shelter for homeless people opens in Wolverhampton this evening  

    - West Bromwich Albion's record goalscorer Tony "Bomber" Brow says some supporters' behaviour during the 3-1 FA Cup defeat at Reading was a disgrace, after defender Chris Brunt was hit by a coin, thrown by an Albion fan.

    Mo Farah was in Birmingham yesterday to launch the city's Diamond League.

    He completed a two-mile run along with fans ahead of his preparation for this summer's Olympic Games in Brazil. 

    Admittedly, it was more of a "jog" for him on Sunday, rather than the fast-paced sprint he's known for.

    The Diamond League, external takes place at the Alexander Stadium exactly two months before the Olympics, on 5 August.

  3. Police call for tighter laws on antique gunspublished at 08:24 Greenwich Mean Time 22 February 2016

    A legal loophole is allowing criminals to lawfully obtain weapons and commit gun crimes including murders, police have said.

    The National Ballistics Intelligence Service (NABIS) said antique guns allegedly bought legally as ornaments were being used as live firearms.

    About 100 such guns are in use by criminals nationwide, police say.

    In the West Midlands alone, 31 people were treated for shooting injuries in the past 18 months.
