    I have spoken to residents near the discovery of the undetonated explosive at a building site in Chasetown.

    They say the area was used as a munitions dump after the war.

    Neighbour John Hayward told me he had raised concerns about plans for 370 houses there before yesterday's device was found, and now was calling for building work to be halted immediately pending a full inquiry into the safety of the site itself.

    A second undetonated explosive has been found at a building site in Chasetown. 

    Staffordshire Police confirmed the site, just off the A5195 Milestone Way, close to Chasetown railway, was closed off around 14:30 on Thursday for disposal experts to carry out a controlled explosion on what was described as a bomb or shell.

    Residents in the area were warned they may hear "a loud bang" as well as experience "earth tremors". The force confirmed the device was successfully detonated around 15:20.

    The cordon around the area and the nearby road was lifted shortly after.

    An 18-year-old man has been shot dead in Birmingham in a street attack, police say.

    Forensic teams are combing over the scene of the shooting and have cordoned off St Marks Crescent.

    The victim's family is being supported by specially-trained officers, say West Midlands Police.

    The man was found with a gunshot wound in St Marks Crescent, Ladywood, at around 18:45 on Thursday.

    West Midlands Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene.
