    Two men and a woman have been charged with terror offences following a probe launched after the Paris and Brussels attacks.

    They were among five people arrested in Birmingham and at Gatwick Airport earlier this month.

    All four candidates for the West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner election will appear in a debate on BBC WM tomorrow at 11:00 with Danny Kelly.

    The current PCC David Jamieson represents Labour; Les Jones, the Conservatives; Pete Durnell for the United Kingdom Independence Party; and Andy Flynn, an independent. The Liberal Democrats and Greens have decided not to field candidates.

    Walsall captain Adam Chambers (pictured) says they're only focused on their own results as they chase promotion to the championship. 

    The Saddlers are three points behind the top two in League One with two games to play and Chambers says that whatever happens, he's proud of his teammates.

  8. Steel boss 'killed himself', inquest hearspublished at 17:46 British Summer Time 28 April 2016

    A steel company boss jumped to his death from the balcony of his apartment after suffering with depression following the family company's collapse, an inquest heard.

    The court was told Angad Paul of Caparo "killed himself" as his children played in their bedroom because he thought he was to blame for the business' downfall.

    More than 400 redundancies were announced at the West Midlands company in October 2015, one month before he died.

    There's a happy ending for a couple who booked a dream holiday to Las Vegas, only to discover when they arrived at Birmingham Airport they had mistakenly booked to fly from Birmingham Alabama.

    They've been given a free holiday courtesy of Virgin Airlines, which says it's treating the couple to flights to Vegas from Manchester, plus five nights accommodation.

     I guess all they need to do is make sure Manchester in New Hampshire, external hasn't been booked.

  10. Agbonlahor insight: 'The striker has only scored one goal this campaign'published at 17:12 British Summer Time 28 April 2016

    Agbonlahor was pictured partying in London on the night Villa's relegation was confirmed after a 1-0 defeat at Manchester United.

    He was suspended while the club mounted an investigation into the incident and have today confirmed that the former England striker has had a “substantial fine” imposed. He is now available for selection from Monday.

    Separately Agbonlahor issued a statement via his Instagram account, external saying that he had stood down from his role as club captain. He went on to ask fans for forgiveness after he became the subject of their anger on social media.

    This is the latest episode in a disappointing season for both Agbonlahor and Aston Villa. The striker has only scored one goal this campaign and has been placed on a fitness regime by caretaker manager Eric Black after being declared unfit for Premier League football in mid April.

    The death of a man whose body found on a street in Kings Norton this morning is being treated as "unexplained".

    West Mercia Police says, external the body was discovered in the Middle Lane area at about 10:00.

    An investigation into how he died is under way.

  12. West Midlands Police 'aware' of Hillsborough high court proceedingspublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 28 April 2016

    West Midlands Police has released a statement saying it is "aware of the ongoing proceedings" after some of the Hillsborough families say they are starting High Court proceedings against the force.

  13. Jury to consider verdicts on police officer accused of making hoax 999 callpublished at 16:28 British Summer Time 28 April 2016

    A jury has retired to consider verdicts on a police officer accused of making a hoax 999 call claiming a colleague would be kidnapped by a radical Muslim, which sparked a terror alert.

    PC Amar Tasaddiq Hussain, 29, is one of three men accused of conspiring to make a bogus call to West Midlands Police in December 2014.  

    Stafford Crown Court heard West Midlands Police put a hostage negotiator on call and stepped up security measures.

    All three defendants deny two counts of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

    In case you wondered what was going on on Twitter today: Happy Ed Balls Day! Who knew that five years ago, a Twitter fail would still be remembered. So what is it all about?

    On 28 April 2011 Ed Balls, who was shadow chancellor at the time, was urged by his aide to search Twitter for articles mentioning his name, but instead of doing a search he tweeted his own name in error.

    So on 28 April, Twitter rejoices in the madness and celebrates Ed Balls.

    At the time of writing, the hashtag #EdBallsDay has been the top trend in the UK and has been used more than 10,000 times.

    A new Birmingham marathon has been announced more than 30 years after the city held its last 26-mile run.

    Organisers say the Birmingham International Marathon and half marathon will be held in October 2017.

    It is expected to follow in the footsteps the People's Marathon, which ran between 1980 and 1985.

    British Athletics legend Brendan Foster was at the launch this morning.
