    Their player of the season has not been picked for the 35-man provisional line up - which does include Villa's Ciaran Clark and Albion's James McClean.

    Birmingham's first fuel bank, aimed at helping people who are struggling to heat their homes, is being launched today.

    The scheme will be based at the B30 Foodbank in Cotteridge and anyone eligible for food parcels will also be able to get emergency credit for their pre-paid gas and electric meters. 

    The project was set up by energy firm Npower and the charity the Trussell Trust.

  5. Football: Walsall prepare for play-off clash with Barnsleypublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 13 May 2016

    After narrowly missing out on automatic promotion Walsall begin their play-off bid tomorrow evening at Barnsley. 

    The Saddlers won 0-5 on the final day of the League One season at Port Vale, but they still finished a point behind second-placed Burton. 

    Walsall are confident they can now reach the Championship via the play-offs, starting with a two-legged semi-final against Barnsley.

    A new £1m complex including a bar, recording studio, conference centre and radio station opens today in Digbeth.

    It's no new rock star venture; instead Recovery Central is run by the Changes UK charity to help people recover from addiction to alcohol and drugs. 

    Steve Dixon is the charity's founder and told us the aim is to give users a sense of purpose.

    A driving instructor from Dudley has been jailed for four years for sexually assaulting six pupils. 

    Gary Rolinson, aged 60, ran 500+ Driving School in Kingswinford. 

    He groomed the 17-year-old boys during lessons between 2012 and 2014, Warwick Crown Court heard.

    Detectives described him as a sexual predator. They said he told the pupils no instructor would teach them again if they went to the police.

    Saturday night marks the 61st Eurovision song contest. Joe and Jake are hoping to woo the crowds for the UK with their song You're Not Alone.

    Go back 18 years - the last time the UK hosted the contest was in 1998 at Birmingham’s National Indoor Arena.

    Ulrika Jonsson and Terry Wogan hosted the 43rd contest after Katrina and the Waves, Love Shine A Light won in the previous year.

    Wolverhampton’s Alan Ash is named amongst the 12 wheelchair rugby players set to compete for ParalympicsGB at Rio 2016.

    Ash, 43, will be appearing in his fifth games.

  10. Cannock van crash man hanging upside down by seatbeltpublished at 09:59 British Summer Time 13 May 2016

    A man was left hanging upside down by his seatbelt for nearly an hour after the van he was in collided with a car.

    He was one of six people involved in the crash - four in the car and two in the van - at a road junction in Cannock on Thursday.

    The man, who was cut free, suffered arm and chest injuries in the collision at the junction of Penkridge Bank and Broadhurst Green.

    It's exactly a year since a Wolverhampton man, thought to have been murdered in India, disappeared on a business trip to the country.

    Ranjit Singh Power owned the Ramada Park hotel in Goldthorn Park. 

    It emerged last year that a body found in a river in India and flown home to the Black Country was not his.

    A whistleblower at a health trust was "not treated fairly," an independent inquiry for the NHS has found. 

    Head of clinical coding and data quality Sandra Haynes-Kirkbright, who raised concerns the hospital trust had misrecorded deaths to make it look as though fewer patients had died needlessly, was suspended by The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust. 

    The trust said it acknowledged the report's findings "none of which" relate to issues around patient safety. 

    Ms Haynes-Kirkbright said she hoped her reputation would now be repaired.
