Black Lives Matter is not just about police brutality, it's about the bigger picture of the devaluation of black life and racisim we face in schools, mental health services and immigration. About the protests, it's really important that we raise these issues and they are being discussed. The level of these protest and the level mean that we are putting these discussions on the table in a way they have previously been ignored.

  10. BBC Midlands Today: Stories we're working onpublished at 16:58 British Summer Time 5 August 2016

Just when you thought it was safe to look at your news running order, West Bromwich Albion announces the club has agreed to sell to a mega-rich Chinese entrepreneur.

We’re live at the Hawthorns tonight to bring you the latest developments and China’s continued love affair with West Midlands football.

It is of course a massive day of sport with the Championship season and the Rio games getting under way. We’ve been talking to the people behind Uttoxeter’s swimming superstar Adam Peaty. Can he add Olympic gold to his world title?

It’s almost five years since the Birmingham riots. We’ve been talking to those caught up in the violence and reveal how many suspects the police still want to catch.

We've also got an incredibly moving film from Lichfield Cathedral which is commemorating the Somme centenary for the next couple of days, transporting you from an Edwardian living room to the battlefields.

  11. Football: West Mids a 'Chinese investment power house'published at 16:42 British Summer Time 5 August 2016

    Rob Gurney
    BBC WM Sport

Like Villa and Wolves, exciting times beckon for Albion fans.

Jeremy Peace was often criticised for his parsimony, but history will judge him as the man that put The Baggies on a sound financial footing for 14 years.

Now Guochuan Lai has the responsibility to take the club to the next level; to genuinely challenge for trophies and bring European football back to The Hawthorns after nearly four decades.

John Williams, with his vast experience at Blackburn, is certainly a shrewd appointment as chairman, but signings to strengthen a pretty threadbare squad are a necessity in what remains of the transfer window.

If and when we get to speak to the new powers-that-be, where Tony Pulis fits into the grand plan for the future will be one of the other key issues to address. But the West Midlands as a whole is suddenly a Chinese investment power house. It's been a remarkable few months.

    Louise Hancock
    Newsreader, BBC WM

The daughter of a missing Walsall woman, whose disappearance is being treated as murder, says the family has accepted she won't be coming back.

Gina Lander's partner David Stokes reported her missing from her home in Mellish Road in March, but despite a number of appeals, no trace of the 46-year-old was found. His body was found by police on 21 April.

An inquest earlier this week ruled he had committed suicide and Ms Lander had been unlawfully killed. A West Midlands Police spokesman said: "One line of enquiry has been that David Stokes may have killed Gina and disposed of her remains shortly before she was reported missing."
