  3. Suspected Birmingham flytippers targeted by raidpublished at 12:47 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2017

    Suspected flytippers have been the subject of a raid by Birmingham City Council this morning.

    The authority's waste enforcement unit swooped in the south of the city to seize a van (pictured), suspected to have been used to dump rubbish illegally.

    The council says its takes a "zero tolerance" approach to the problem.

    I'm told Nottingham Forest's Henri Lansbury wants to come to Aston Villa so he'll arrive either this month if the new Forest owners agree or on a free in the summer.

    It seems there's no need for Villa to increase their bid of £3m because they believe Lansbury will not go elsewhere.

    A young Black Country boy has traveled to Germany to meet the stem cell donor who saved his life. 

    Five-year-old Gaurav Bains from Tipton had the life saving treatment in 2014. 

    On the third anniversary of the procedure, he and his family have met up with Stefan Richinger to thank him. 

    His dad Sunny says it was a "moving experience".

    Stourbridge FC’s cruel FA Cup defeat to Wycombe Wanderers was made worse by the actions of one fan who threw a flare, external onto the pitch.

  15. HMP Birmingham riot: Second man appears in courtpublished at 09:03 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January 2017

    A second man has appeared in court charged in connection with last month's disorder at HMP Birmingham.

    Robert Smith, aged 33, appeared at Birmingham Magistrates' Court on Saturday accused of prison mutiny. He is to appear next at Birmingham Crown Court on 3 February. 

    On Friday, inmate Ross Queen appeared at the same court where his solicitor indicated he would deny charges of prison mutiny and taking a photograph inside the prison.

    Police said officers were working with G4S, the firm which runs the prison, to investigate the trouble.
