    Two ambulances, a paramedic area support officer and the critical care paramedics from the Midlands Air Ambulance were sent to the scene, but teams could not save the woman who was struck by falling debris on Dudley Street, the region's ambulance service said, external.

    A woman died when a piece of debris struck her as it fell on to a street in Wolverhampton outside a Starbucks store, West Midlands Ambulance Service has confirmed.

    She suffered "very serious head injuries" and it "quickly became apparent that there was nothing that could be done to save her" before she was confirmed dead at the scene in Dudley Street, according to the service.

    West Midlands Ambulance Service said it had received 15 999 calls to the same "very serious incident" in Dudley Street, Wolverhampton at 11:43 GMT.

    The Midlands Air Ambulance has been grounded by the high winds, so take care while Storm Doris continues to take hold.

    The charity that runs the helicopter says the aircrew will still be on shift, using rapid response vehicles to attend incidents.
