    The woman killed when she was hit by debris during Storm Doris in Wolverhampton was with two colleagues who were taken to hospital with minor injuries, according to their employer, the University of Wolverhampton.

    It said a "number" of her colleagues were with her when she was struck in the city centre yesterday, adding the injured two had since been discharged.  

    Tahnie Martin, 29, was a member of the university's external relations directorate and worked as faculty of arts marketing manager, covering maternity leave.  

    Ms Martin, who lived in Stafford, started work at the university last August and, according to her employer, was due to start a new job there next week, having recently secured a permanent post as a postgraduate marketing manager.

    Police say Tahnie Martin, 29, died in Wolverhampton city centre after being struck by "wooden roofing" during Storm Doris yesterday.

    The West Midlands Force has not said from which building the "large piece" came.

    Detective Inspector Paul Joyce said: “We are still trying to ascertain who the building belongs to and whether there is any criminal liability."

    Police are working with the local authority and the Health and Safety Executive to establish what happened.

    Ms Martin is from Stafford and worked at the University of Wolverhampton.

    Police have named the woman who died after being hit by debris from a roof in Storm Doris yesterday as Tahnie Martin.

    The 29-year-old, who was struck near a branch of Starbucks in Wolverhampton city centre, was from Stafford and worked at the University of Wolverhampton.

    She had been walking along Dudley Street with colleagues when, police say, she was hit by "a large piece of wooden roofing".

    She was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Iman Omar Yousef, 32, of Erdington, Birmingham, admitted the manslaughter of her daughter Alia Jama. 

    Alia was stabbed by her paranoid schizophrenic mother and then doused in acid. Yousef was previously declared unfit to stand trial and had been detained indefinitely in a secure psychiatric hospital under mental health legislation.

    She admitted the killing yesterday at Worcester Crown Court after being deemed fit to stand trial.

    A serious case review into the matter  published in 2012  concluded there were no previous indications that the mother would physically harm the child but the death could have been prevented if not predicted.

    An investigation continues today into the death of a woman struck by falling debris  in Storm Doris outside a branch of Starbucks.

    There were 15 emergency 999 calls after she was hit by wood described as being the size of "a coffee table" in Wolverhampton city centre at about 11:45 GMT yesterday.

    The object believed to have struck the woman was removed from the scene for forensic analysis on Thursday afternoon.

    Police have told us the woman was 29 years old.

    The majority of homes affected by power cuts in Redditch have had their supplies restored, according to the energy supplier Western Power., external

    An injunction has been taken out against seven beggars banning them from the centre of Wolverhampton.

    The two-year injunction was granted against the "persistent beggars" earlier this week.

    The council applied for the order after it said they were threatening to staff in shops and licensed premises.

    Those subject to the injunction are allowed in the city centre between noon and 14:00 so they can access services.

    Disruption across the West Midlands continues after Storm Doris yesterday.

    Some train services are still affected.

    The Cross City Line will be closed all day between Lichfield and Redditch and some services to London are cancelled or delayed.
