    Posing as an addict to infiltrate some of the UK's biggest drug gangs is not for the faint-hearted.

    It takes resolve, courage, and an ability to think on your feet in the most high-pressure of environments.

    But for Neil Woods, who ended up helping to bring six members of the notorious Burger Bar Boys gang to justice, it was not a life calling that led him to devote 14 years to this cause, but a failure to perform in his normal role .

    The Communist Party of Britain is to field a candidate in May's election for the Mayor of the West Midlands. 

    Graham Stevenson, who is originally from Coventry, is a retired trade union organiser. 

    His policies include nationalising the M6 toll motorway and introducing a living wage of £10 an hour.

    The other candidates are Andrew Street for the Conservatives, James Burn is running on a Green Party ticket, Sion Simon stands for Labour, Beverley Nielsen for the Liberal Democrats, and Pete Durnell is the UKIP candidate.

    A woman stabbed to death by her brother in Wolverhampton has been named on social media. 

    Tributes have been paid on Facebook to 33-year-old Ann Marie James, who lived in a block of flats in the Merry Hill area. 

    Her 36-year-old brother, who stabbed himself, has been named as Melvin James. 

    Their mother, who is 59,  is being treated for stab wounds to the stomach at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
