  1. 'Proposed contract change' to blame for missed bin collections published at 09:35 British Summer Time 5 April 2017

    A bin man in Birmingham has told BBC WM he blames a proposed change to contracts for a back-log in collections.

    It's after rubbish and recycling wasn't picked up on more than 70 streets in the city yesterday. 

    The city council has since apologised for the missed collections.

    A special exhibition is opening to celebrate the Range Rover's 50th Birthday. 

    The car's prototype, known as the Velar, was first produced at the company's Solihull factory in 1967. 

    The Range Rover is still one of Britain's biggest luxury exports, worth £10bn every year. 

    The vehicle, when it first came out cost about £1,000 about 2,000 were built. Move on 50 years and 1.7m have been sold.

    This is a replica clay model (pictured) and despite all the computers in the industry - clay is still used to model vehicles.

  17. Paterson: Patients memories have 'faded'published at 17:37 British Summer Time 4 April 2017

    The breast surgeon accused of carrying out unnecessary operations on his patients has told a court the memories of his patients who allege wrongdoing have faded over time.

    Ian Paterson said: "I'm not calling any of these patients liars, I just think they remember what they remember now, 10 years after the fact."

    He also said he had never deliberately exaggerated a patient's diagnosis in a bid to dupe insurers into paying for surgery. 

    Mr Paterson denies  20 counts of wounding with intent  against nine women and one man relating to procedures carried out between 1997 and 2011. He worked at the Heart of England NHS Trust and Spire Healthcare.

  18. Cadbury 'would not have celebrated Easter'published at 17:28 British Summer Time 4 April 2017

    More now on the story about Cadbury and the National Trust's decision to drop the word Easter from its egg hunts.

    Prime Minister Theresa May and Archbishop of York (and former Bishop of Birmingham) John Sentamu have criticised the decision.

    But a descendant of Birmingham Quaker and Cadbury founder John Cadbury has pointed out he did not celebrate Easter.

    His great-great-great-great-granddaughter, Esther McConnell, said: "He believed that every day is equally sacred and, back then, this was expressed by not marking festivals."

    On Midlands Today's Facebook, external page Maz Jones said: "Not everyone is religious, kids like chocolate. Where's the problem? Besides I'm sure this was a pagen celebration of the spring before Romans came to these lands."

    But Emma Millward said: "No easter eggs from Cadbury will be bought in my house this year."
