    Confidential items have been stolen from a police officer's car, the West Midlands force has said.

    But it has not confirmed reports that the theft was from the car of counter-terrorism boss Assistant Chief Constable Marcus Beale, external.

    Police said a locked metal box containing documents relating to police matters was taken.

    The box was locked in the boot of an unmarked car, police said. They did not say where or when the theft happened.

    In a speech following the attack, Prime Minister Theresa May said there had been "far too much tolerance of extremism in our country".

    Birmingham will be joining other towns and cities around the country in holding a minute's silence for those killed and injured in London's terror attack.

    The silence will take place outside Birmingham City Council's offices in Victoria Square at 11:00 on Tuesday.

    Council leader John Clancy and the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Anne Underwood, are among those expected to attend, the authority said.

    Seven people died and 48 were injured when attackers drove into pedestrians on London Bridge and stabbed people in Borough Market on Saturday night.

    A man has appeared in court in connection with the death of a 17-year-old girl whose remains were found in a wardrobe wrapped in cling film.

    Ashley Foster, 24, appeared at Wolverhampton Crown Court charged with preventing the lawful and decent burial of Megan Bills (pictured) between 16 April and 4 May this year.

    The body of the teenager was discovered at a flat on Highgate Road, Brierly Hill, after neighbours reported a bad smell.

    Mr Foster, of no fixed abode, was remanded in custody and is due to appear again on 21 June.

    A jury's been told a radio presenter accused of sex offences with underage boys is the victim of a cheap attempt to paint her as "salacious and predatory".

    Julie Wadsworth, 60, is on trial at Warwick Crown Court along with her husband Tony - both are charged with indecent assault and outraging public decency between 1992 and 1996.

    Her defence says she was damaged by a past abusive relationship.

    The couple, from Broughton Astley, Leicestershire, who have presented on BBC WM and BBC Coventry and Warwickshire, deny five counts of outraging public decency. Mrs Wadsworth has also pleaded not guilty to 11 charges of indecent assault, while her 69-year-old husband denies nine counts of the same offence.

    The trial continues.
