Brexit survey results in the West Midlands

With less than 18 months to go until we leave the European Union, hundreds of Midlands business leaders say it's the continuing uncertainty that's worrying them most.

Sunday Politics surveyed almost 700 local businesses across the West Midlands - 26% of them said Brexit was having a negative impact, while only 11% reported positive effects. Yes, nearly two-thirds, 63%, reported a neutral impact.

There are increasing signs that this political uncertainty could drag on well beyond the government's proposed two-year "implentation period" after Brexit.

A wildlife group in Brewood is changing the way skylarks are caught and tracked.

It has been using a thermal imaging camera to help track down and trap the birds at night, when they are roosting, and as a result they have gone from ringing the odd skylark every decade to hundreds over the course of a few months.

The West Midland Bird Club and the Brewood ringers have been using it on three farms around Penkridge.

This will revolutionise what we know about skylarks, especially if more groups borrow this camera or even buy their own.

My mum was very vulnerable after being told she had terminal cancer and to be targeted by these people is unforgivable. The extra stress this put on her life in her last days was unbearable. I would really like to see justice served on the woman who came to my mum's door that day. She not only robbed my mother of her well earned money but gave her a very unpleasant experience of worrying in her last few days of life."

Ahead of Sunday's derby at St Andrew's, the Villa manager Steve Bruce says he's well ware that for the fans this is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, game of the season.

BBC WM's sport commentators take a look at the game ahead.

    Quote Message

There's beauty in uncertainty, and the first second city derby of the season is liberally laced with it. Steve Cotterill becomes the third Birmingham boss in three meetings to confront Steve Bruce since he added claret to his previously blue managerial roots."

As Oscar Wilde once very nearly said: 'To lose one derby away from home may be regarded as misfortune, but to lose two looks like carelessness'. A couple of weeks after Villa were well beaten by Wolves in their first derby of the season, Steve Bruce won't want to be making the short trip back to B6 holding nothing more than cold tea and sympathy again."
