    A firework exploded after being thrown into a takeaway restaurant.

    The Silver House restaurant Drakes Cross Parade, Wythall, was targeted at 18:00 last night, but no one was injured.

    PC Simon Albutt from Alvechurch & Wythall Safer Neighbourhood team said: "This is a shocking incident that could have easily gone horribly wrong and somebody could have got very seriously hurt."

    The Conservative MP for Redditch, Rachel Maclean, has told parliament the town would be the perfect fit for a new science and technology university.

    The government says it would "welcome" an application from Worcestershire for a new university.

    Universities and Science Minister Jo Johnson says he wants these new technology institutes to be "prestigious" places for learning.

    Former Stoke City captain Andy Griffin thinks Mark Hughes is still the right man to take the club forward.

    Hughes has come under pressure from sections of supporters recently, following a run of form which has seen them win just two of their past 10 games, leaving them three points above the drop zone.

    The husband of Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe has urged Boris Johnson to retract his remark that she had been training journalists in Iran.

    Nadhim Zahawi said Boris Johnson was "going to be on the phone making it very clear to his counterpart in Iran that his words to the committee were wrong".

    "I don't think he should resign", he said "we should focus on the behaviour of the Iranian regime and put as much pressure on them as possible to get Nazanin back home".

    A funeral directors in Solihull has gone out of business, owing thousands of pounds, families claim.

    Colour My Funeral, in Rowood Drive, offered alternative services, including coffins painted in football team colours, leopard skin and other patterns.

    Some customers have complained about poor service, while others say they're owed money from pre-paid funeral plans.

    The BBC has made efforts to get in touch with the directors, but has not yet been able to contact them.

    More needs to be done to help homeless people in Cheshire, according to the chief executive of the YMCA in Crewe.

    It's after Cheshire East Council apologised for fliers telling homeless people to move their belongings or they'd be destroyed.

    A man living on the streets in Crewe had his blanket and sleeping bag taken away when he'd left them to go for a walk.

    The authority says it will talk to local homeless community groups and Mark Hills, from the YMCA, told BBC Radio Stoke they can follow the ideas of other councils.

    The death of Anthony Nicholls, whose house was targeted in an arson attack, will now be treated as murder, police say.

    Det Insp Paul Joyce, from West Midlands Police, said the property "caught alight quickly and gutted the open plan living accommodation".

    The three offenders, wearing balaclavas and carrying a hammer and crowbar, followed security guards into the store as they delivered the boxes in Leyles Lane at about 11:30.

    Staff were left shaken, said Warwickshire Police, but nobody was hurt during the incident.

    Anthony Nicholls, 56, had been in an induced coma since the blaze on Thursday night.

    His partner, a 50-year-old woman, fractured lower limbs after jumping from a first floor window.

    She remains in hospital.

    Police have released these photos of the fire-damaged house.

    There were no arrests or injuries at West Coventry Academy today, says West Midlands Police, external, after officers were called to reports of intruders at the Tile Hill site at 12:40.

    Investigations continue after the school said three men, carrying sticks, broke through a fence on to the school site.

    Three people wielding sticks broke through a fence on to a school site in Coventry.

    A spokesperson from West Coventry Academy, in Tile Hill, said the incident happened at 12:43 when "three males" entered the school site.

    "They were apprehended immediately and followed off site by members of the leadership team.

    "The school has CCTV evidence and is liaising closely with police."

    The school confirmed no pupil was hurt.
